My Achievement Hunting Career ( 9/25/10 – 7/4/16 )
Today I finally hit my ultimate goal of 100,000 Gamerscore, something that took me nearly 6 years to achieve. The great hunt all started in Halo Reach with “Yes, Sensei” & it ended today with “Back on the job” in Mirror’s Edge. Once that final achievement popped and I had finally hit my goal it made me realize a few things. First off the games that I have been playing, second the time I have spent playing those said games, and lastly that I needed to make some major changes in both of those areas.
So today I have decided to officially retire from all the grinding and Gamerscore boosting that got me to 100,000. Now that doesn’t mean I will stop playing video games, it just means I will be very selective in what I play from now on. The games I will eventually be playing are all of the games in my backlog/game collection and wish list. This also means I will no longer be playing games like Three Fourths Home, Slashdash, Sixty Second Shooter Prime or Terminator Salvation, all of these were not worth my time. Out of all 56 of the games that I played strictly for Gamerscore, I did run into some good ones The Swapper, NERO, Q.U.B.E. and Thomas Was Alone were some of the games that I truly enjoyed playing. I also liked replaying most of the telltale games for the different choices.
I would like to thank everyone that helped me along the journey, in the many sessions. It was a lot of fun playing with you all. I would also like to thank GameStop for having an awesome 7 day used game return policy, which saved me some money along the way. I will also thank Xbox Live for being usable the majority of the time, and for all the free Games with Gold which are a very nice consolation prize (Nearly 100 games I have not yet played).
In conclusion I cannot wait to begin my new mission, which is to play games for the experience (primarily single player) and not the Gamerscore. I will start with the following games Mirror’s Edge, the Bioshock trilogy, Red Dead, Alan Wake, Tomb Raider and Dead Space. All games I have wanted to play, and I will finally have the time, now that I am officially Back on the job of truly enjoying gaming.
