Does anyone know if Giants portal works with the original game? Toys R Us is having a huge sale on the toys and Giants so might pick up a few for my son's graduation.

The portal is the same as far as I know. All the giants skylanders and original skylanders specify whether they are compatible with one an other.

Very easy game. Basically just hold down RT. Choose anything. And you have 950G. The others for accessing couple of menu items.
