Difficulties Mastered
Difficulties Mastered in Civilization RevolutionI was in a boosting session of
Dawn of War II (PC) last night and we got into a discussion that got me thinking on the recent DLC ratio change. The question was asked "what's the hardest achievement you've won?"
My mind immediately went to the debate of rarity versus difficulty. A look at my highest ratios tells me I've won achievements that are rare because no one bothered to obtain them for various reasons. Four of my top twenty achievements have been earned on my own without boosting.
Big Money in Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 10Complete Set in NHL 12Growing Club in FIFA 12Globetrotter in FIFA 10Big Money required skill to finish in the money in an online tournament with a time cost of playing in enough events to get to $5 million.
Complete Set required playing enough HUT to get the pucks to buy some cheap players from a QMJHL team that no one else saw value in (and upvote my solution please!). This was probably the least time consuming of the four.
Growing Club was an interesting trip. I earned all my coins by using the FUT website app to buy and sell players online. But this method was less time consuming that playing games for coins.
Globetrotter also saw me shortcut the game. All you have to do is win the titles in manager mode. So I ran seasons "Mogul-style" (named after baseball sim Baseball Mogul), where I handled transfers, upgrades, lineups and injuries, but simmed the games. Just start with Manchester United, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Inter Milan and Lyon and you have a leg up to start with.
These achievements all have a couple things in common. They're all sports games. They are also in modes that players may not put a lot of time into. For Big Money, there was no in-game payoff for playing other than the achievement (servers are down now, leading to a slowly increasing ratio). Complete Set and Growing Club revolved around Ultimate Team. Globetrotter meant playing with teams that you maybe didn't want to use. I know I had no interest in the French Ligue 1. None of these are what I'd call "difficult", they just involve playing the game differently.
As for the rest of my high ratio achievements, it's a lot of online multiplayer that isn't necessarily skill based (see Dawn of War II "play as this army 20 times" achievements). I got them all by boosting. Even without boosting, I likely wouldn't have played the 20 games with each of the five armies in DoW2.
So what would I say has been the most difficult achievement to actually earn based on ratio?
Goal Oriented in NFL Head Coach 09Amazing, since it's from such a crappy game.
