We all know those endless runners. Temple Run, Despicable Me: Minion Rush and Jetpack Joyride are probably the most recent releases and most known ones out there. We also all know the most popular platformers and many of you have played the Rayman releases on your mobiles devices. The levels are compact, short and fun to play and are great to play when you have that 30 minute break at work. Does Funk of Titans follow that line on the console?

    SINGLE PLAYER EXPERIENCE
Like most ID@Xbox games, this is the only part that can be reviewed and quite honestly: this game doesn’t need any fancy multiplayer add-ons. There isn’t much of a story other than to defeat some Titans that ruin the music industry (which is, quite frankly already happening in real life too) and the God of Funk must go and defeat the 3 main Titans. The gameplay is simple: press A to jump and/or walljump, and press X to kill enemies on your path. There is no need for you to sit there with thumbsticks changing tracks as your character just runs and you’ll need to make sure he makes it through the track without dying.

Your main character can be hit twice during each level. This comes in handy when you miss spikes, although you will need to complete each level without being hit if you wish to obtain all vinyls. Each area consists out of 15 separate levels, and each holds 3 optional objectives: Intactus (finish a level with being hit), Vinylus (collect all 100 vinyls in a level) and Pegasus. For those of you who don’t know the latter, it may be recommended you read up about some Greek Mythology. This is based on the same character, although the horse you are riding doesn’t have wings but is somehow motorised. During these sequences, you are able to collect extra vinyls that you can spend on customisation.

Speaking of customisation, you are able to spend thousands of vinyls on masks and weapons. The latter could have special abilities like breaking blockades of explosives, which needs to be done if you want to collect everything in-game (mostly for the Pegasus mini-game sequences).

The 15 levels in each area also embraces fights against Grunts and dance-offs against the Titans of Pop (which looks a lot like Lady Gaga), Rap and Rock. These short levels mostly consist of Quick Time Events and are also easy to beat.

While you are guiding the God of Funk through the lands of old Greece, you will also get bonus objectives from Zeus (which, on his turn, look a lots like Samuel Jackson). This will help you to level up your character which makes you able of buying new equipment.

    GRAPHICS AND SOUND
The graphics could remind some of comic books, and that is nothing that puts the game in a negative perspective. Each level of each area is uniquely designed and makes it fun to play. The sound in this game is similar to the graphics, although the tune on the level selection screen is the completely opposite. Again, this doesn't affect the game in any negative way and is still quite fitting within the concept Funk of Titans tries to deliver.

    ACHIEVEMENTS
The achievement list varies a lot, and that’s good for replayability. Three achievements are awarded for completing a certain area while three others are awarded for completing all optional objectives (which will then again award you with unlocking an additional three other achievements for flying Pegasus through the Bonus Stages). five achievements can be unlocked during the course of the game whilst completing Zeus’ optional objectives, and three other achievements hang together with those objectives to unlock and buy everything in the store. The remaining four achievements are unlocked after beating every Grunt or Titan without missing a button during the QTE’s.

    CONCLUSION
This game is fun to play and can be considered as something that can be played if you have 30 minutes to kill and are in between two tasks. The gameplay is simple, and therefore the game can be played by everyone from all ages. The optional objectives might be a bit time consuming, but it does add some replayability to this game. If you are looking for a game to relax in between work shifts or other games, then this game is highly recommended.

I first saw this game, and noticed the price was under 15$s. Games cheaper than that always catch my attention, and I end up getting them. My initial reaction was that Funk of titans is hilarious. Every moment I felt like I was twelve again, playing on a N64, or a Sega DreamCast. The game is very basic, gets your attention and even feels like those older games. It is defiantly an interesting game, but wont be for everyone.

You are a "Funk God" and you have to go around and destroy the gods of Rock, pop and rap. They give you a few things to customize your guy, a few weapons, from a Fish to a stop sign. They also give you hats to wear, from a top hat, to Darth Vader. Unfortunately MOST of these don't do anything for your game play, just aesthetics of it.

Graphics (2 of 3): This game has late 90's early 2000's graphics. Very poloygonnny... lots of flat surfaces and lines. Colors are alright, bright, easy to see at most times. Some levels take you into darkness and it gets difficult, but not to the point of rage quitting. The main issue I have with the graphics is that sometimes you die, even if you clearly didn't hit anything. The registration is awful, sometimes you even miss ledges because of it.

Multiplayer / Achievements (2 of 3): There is no multiplayer, so I obviously will base this soley on achievements. I already full cleared this game. I started it for about 20 minutes on Friday night, and played for about 3 hours Saturday evening. All achievements are easily attainable without much effort. Almost to the point of to easy. There is not much grind to any of them. Anyone in my eyes can easily obtain all the achievements for this game. Tips on the easiest way will be below. Some folks don't want help!

Story / Replay (.5 of 3): This game is very boring. After the first few levels you get the idea of how the game will be. All levels are under 5 minutes, and they don't change to much between them. They only have 3 worlds of 15 levels a piece. After one play through, you have the majority of the achievements, and the remaining ones are quick and easy. After about 5 hours, you won't play this game again.

This game gives you a bad experience of the late 90s in gaming. After you get all your cheevo's you wont ever turn back to look at this game. For 10$s you are basically paying for 1k more gamer score. I probably wouldn't recommend this to anyone other than the few gamers that want their gamer score higher.

For those that do decide to give this a try for the achievements, here are few things to do to speed up the amount of time it will take.

First, dont waste any money early on on hats, they are useless. The first weapon to buy should be the flaming sword, it is cheap and most "magic doors" require this to open it, next the nerd sword, and last the stop sign. Always have the flame weapon on, when you come across a different door that requires one of these other 2, restart change to it, finish the level, and change back to the flame sword.

Get to lvl 9 as quick as you can. This may require you to not get gold on certain levels, but you need to get to lvl 9 for the stop sign weapon. This will allow you get gold on EVERY level.

Never finish a level without getting it gold. If you miss something, restart. You might need to change weapon like stated above.
