In every hardest difficulty run through of a game there's always one point that drives to you the brink of insanity, and only smashing your controller into dust can stop you from going over it. And top of the list of these moments for me is killing General Karn, Declassified on Insanity, in Gears of War: Judgement.
Its not Karn himself that had me snapping my controllers in half like they were toothpicks, he was just your simple run of the mill shoot the right point of his body when its exposed. Nothing new nothing fancy but tried and tested boss fights. No what pushed over the edge was the so called 'Smart' spawn system. Inbetween shooting the glowing part of Karn he would summon a wave of enemies to keep you busy, sounds simple right? No, its maddening having Maulers spawn within a few feet of you which you have to dance around all the while the mass of therons on the other side of the arena have taken down your stupid ass squad and and are now taking it in turns to pin the torque on the gear. This only happened sometimes though and most times your could sit back and pick the whole wave of enemies off. But the next part is the real soul crushing, Heart blackening, Knuckle breaking part.
Ragers. Unarguably the most frustrating enemy on insanity, the main problem with them is actually a problem with your squad. They rarely get headshots on the ragers and then you end up with a wave of angry red dudes racing to make you into confetti, and you cant just kill them quickly and focus on Karn, because if he doesnt show his weak spot soon enought or if you fail to hit it he just summons more of guys who are eager to finish what there friends left off. The sheer number of times i was withing seconds of taking Karn down and a rager would pop out of the corner of my screen and destroy can only be counted by tallying up the number of broken controllers lying on my floor or inbedded in my wall.
With so many things that could go against you based on the luck the punishment is severe and restarting again is why i had to leave this badass for quite some time before finally calming down and grinding this out
