Do you play games for fun?
Ever since getting the achievement bug I always come across this conversation often among my friends who I talk to. I like to think that I do as I've always found playing the family games and the easier games monotonous and lacking in the fun that I feel when I play a highly polished game such as Bulletstorm or the indie darlings like Braid and Dungeons of Dredmor.
I've played my fair share of easy games and I own a large quantity as I like to collect games. However, I have far much more fun when I play an epic RPG such as Dragon Age: Origins or Skyrim. I think I enjoy the idea of immersion much more than playing Meet the Robinsons, which mechanically is a solid game but I somehow feel hollow whilst playing it.
Last week I managed to complete The Walking Dead, Chessmaster Live and Fifa 12 finally, just in time for the dlc... I also have been playing Trials Evolution, but for fun rather than the achievements as I've been trying to beat my friends list on most of the tracks. Unfortunately last night I hit a bit of a sticking point with the last 4 extreme tracks, they're seriously difficult and my patience was already wearing thin. Maybe another day.
Goal-wise I completed 2 of the 5 I set which is better than before. I could have done better but I was playing the Guild Wars 2 beta all weekend, and have been playing a rather spammy Facebook game called the Secret War for access for a beta to the Secret World. My goals for this week are to actually start The Witcher 2, to finish off Anomaly: Warzone Earth, to finish off Fez and if I have time, to finish off Rage to free up the space on my HDD.
To top things off I'd like to recommend Trials Evolution to everyone. It has a brilliant difficulty curve from seriously easy to ridiculously difficult and has plenty of techniques to master for the serious speed-run addict. The achievements range from being relatively easy to rather challenging but nothing to top the Marathon achievement on Trials HD.
