Rock Band 4 - The 3rd Revision - 4/5 Stars
So today my bandmates (Gun Show - pew pew!) came over for an afternoon of Rock Band 4 goodness.
I've been pretty critical of this game to date (rightfully I still think), but it's worth pointing out the successes. Since last time I commented on the game there's been a number of significant updates, RB1/RB2/RB3(with export fee)/RBGD/LRB are all importable into RB4 (though it's still a song at a time -- only RB3 offers a "all in one go" import).
Brutal mode came out in December and many dismissed it as a joke, but we played a handful of songs and it was probably the most fun we had all day.https://scontent-sea1-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xla1/v/t1.0-9/1...
Since then there's been a few more significant updates, and it's impressive how much Harmonix continues to support this game. The backward compatibility adapter works flawlessly (though it's still annoying that I can only sign in one profile to the 3 instruments tied to the adapter), and there's new DLC coming out every week.
There's still a number of shortcomings of RB4 over RB3 (online play? practice mode? a decent import mechanism?), but at the end of the day it's still an amazingly fun experience to play with a group of friends.
Bumping my score up. Here's hoping the updates continue.
