Dashboard speed was good... but the current dash is faster when you don't have a ton of XBLA and giant GamerTag. So the speed of a new console doesn't much impress yet.

You still have the same amount of content on the HDD to trudge through. Why the smaller tag loads slower I couldn't tell you. Maybe the location on the drive where the...

tag is actually located. Or the tag is fragmented across multiple sections of the drive, causing it to do more intensive reads.

mention that many TV sources need a decoder card these days. So do you have to get a card for the Xbox, or is it actually sending HDMI control signals to your TV box...

and re-displaying the output? Maybe they'll hit some of these issues at E3.

Yeah, the tech said that it has HDMI in/out -- so if that was how they were doing TV, it's unlikely to have any real DVR functions. Additionally your other hardware...

(tuner) needs to respect the HDMI single commands for switching stations/etc.

I'm most concerned about used games. I almost exclusively buy used/discounted so a big cost impact will be a big barrier for me.

Yeah, it sounds like the activation fee for the used game depends on each publisher. I think Sony will have to do something similar.

It seems to me that M$ is more interested in gaining more casual gamers than losing us hardcode gamers ... which will probably work.
