Those 'advances' were at too great of a cost. Better to take the entire thing back to formula.
i liked the idea of sharing games...maybe we can still share our digital library with 10 'family' members...overall...this is probably the best choice for the system

although, now they appear weak, and it will just lead to more complaining.
Exactly, they appear week and not confident. Why on earth should I buy your product if you don't feel confident enough in it to begin with?
There's a difference between 'weak' and 'going full retard ahead'. One shows willingness to listen (in theory), the other shows My Way Or The Highway.
I just feel like there is a middle ground that Microsoft completely skipped that could've make this an easy transition into digital instead of a forced march.
Maybe, but their premise was flawed from the start. So long I require their permission to play + the prices staying the same, they can go jump.
since they knew all of the hate coming from just the rumors...they should have made this decision prior to e3, instead of pomote it and then backtrack.
Of course the page with the information has crashed
This is to the original Q&A then there is a link to the updated version on there. Waiting for it to load...

what did it say?
Well according to the websites that could get at it, no more always online and that the discs will be handled like the 360. Used/loan/trade-in etc
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA! The pre-order numbers must have been enough to scare MS. Too little, too late for me. Not changing the PS4 pre-order.

Also no region lock?
ya i saw that too. hmmmmm interesting.
HAHA! And the gamer wins. Personally I don't mind the always online for some stuff, but not even being able to play a SP game without it is way too much.
Now I am pissed, because the virtual sharing is going away. That part was fucking awesome. Actually, the gamer doesn't win.
This is sweet, sweet news. Now if only they would announce that the corporate puppet Don Mattrick is 'moving on'....
Q: Will Xbox One allow players to trade in, purchase and play pre-owned games? A: We are designing Xbox One to enable customers to trade in and resell games.
We'll have more details on that later.WHAT "details"? Either it will allow used games or not.
Wow. Might have to switch my preorder. http://arstechnica.com/gaming/2013/06/rumor-microsoft-set-to-reverse-controversial-game-licensing-policies/
that is from the page without the update.
FragEm, MS did a total reverse. The One will allow used games just as the 360 does.
DoT, I just copy and pasted the Q&A from the news page. Why the need to share more details later if the policy is the same as the 360? I hope future "details" don't
mess things up for everyone.
Nevermind. I was reading an older "update". New one I read is clear as a bell. Too bad M$ only did this to keep up with Sony and not for their customers.
http://news.xbox.com/2013/06/updateis the official link from MS... looks like MS is listening...
I'll take it lol
From the president himself.. Don Mattrick....http://news.xbox.com/2013/06/update
I also saw that now that Sony is charging for PSN some countries can't have online MP http://www.gamesreviews.com/news/06/ps4-online-blocked-for-countries-without-a-store
Futiles : They didn't say the sharing would go away though so maybe that will stick around
This is starting to look really good. But not sure if they're backing down or all that happened since day one has been part of a marketing program
Actually they did "These changes will impact some of the scenarios we previously announced for Xbox One. The sharing of games will work as it does today"
Well, making you think that they are backing down can be part of a marketing program. I love conspiracies, just like the dude at my gamerpic :)
It isn't a conspiracy, Xbox.com is updated, and the presser says digital versions cannot be shared.
You're obviously not understanding what I'm saying but no worries. It's difficult for me to explain in english. Anyway I'm happy to see how the Xbox One will be
Conspiracy theory #13: The original hardware that set restrictions will remain inside the system. Restrictions will return in a mandatory update after major console sales
@herb, So you think they are lying to get people to buy the console and when you get the console it will still be the same as before they made this announcement?
^^^It is possible...but unlikely.
Nope, I think that they just tried to make people talk about the console, even if it was for bad, because they knew how the gamming community will react to the
annoucement of the first news we had about the console. Now that everyone is talking about the Xbox One, they say they're changing most of the things
and do it the way that most of the community will like. Not sure if it makes sense, will like to elaborate but not in the comments section and is hard for me in english.
I think is just a well thought movement by MS marketing. Is always better to go from bad news to good, rather tan from good news to bad. This last thing is what
is going to happen to Sony, as they have based all the advertisement on talking shit about the Xbox One.
So, other discless features won't work. Instant switching and smart match making are both likely gone
I think as long as you are online the cloud features are there, except for what involved licensing.
The doctor is saying any publicity is good publicity. And I want my game consoles to play games first anyway.
@Ryot, right, play games first, like playing Dead Rising 3 while your BF4 lobby loads up and preps the match, then instant jumping over when ready. Dead feature
Not necessarily a dead feature. Could still work with content that IS purchased digitally. So you could play a XBLA game while waiting for that BF4 lobby.
