Lucky Dip Game Selection
My backlog, on the Xbox alone, is around 15-20 games which includes most of the Xbox 360 games on the “Rare Replay” collection, a handful of Xbox 360 games I’ve picked up via Games with Gold and the “Handsome Jack Collection” that I was given for my birthday.
Add in my backlog on the PlayStation 4, another collection of free rentals, Flash Sale purchases and a smattering of retail titles and we’re looking at another 15-20 titles still un-played… or played briefly one evening.
To try and clear this before the all the new titles (which have to be played when purchased) start to land from September onwards, I’ve decided to use a slightly different method of selection… the lucky dip.
15 titles were selected (omitting any games on the PS4 list that I’ve already played on the Xbox like Valiant Hearts and Never Alone) and written down, then folded up and put into a small pot from which I select the next game… and with a few months free I’m going to see how many I can get through.
Thus far I’m on my second, the first being “The Vanishing of Ethan Carter” on the PS4 which was bought in a sale, and the now I’m on “Goat Simulator” which is, frankly, a pretty dire title being played with a guide purely for the points at this stage… had I not pulled it out of the pot then it may well have sat there for months without being played… maybe, in this case, it’s an unlucky dip.
Should any other titles appear on Games with Gold, or even PS+ (which has been pretty horrific recently) then these will be added to the pot if they are something I quite fancy playing as opposed to something that I’ll download on the off chance I “might” feel like playing it at some point… and with the July games both being announced in the next week or so, who knows what’ll be added soon.
