What are your thoughts so far?
once you get a hang of the battle system, it is not too bad...but like any JRPG, it becomes insanely grindy...

How to 'unlock' the world map is pretty cool...but the story so far is still 'meh'. IMO, the best JRGP I have played on the xbox to date is Lost Odyssey by far.
based on how much you were complaining about F3 i would STRONGLY recommend you to stay away from all jRPGs, even the good ones like this one
Fallout 3 grew on me a little. I don't loathe having to spend time playing it. But it's an average game at best.
I suggest you stay away from Dark Souls so you never have to know how good an "RPG" can really be.
Dark Souls = action game. and im totally not at all trying to be judgemental - im just saying that the same things that put you off of F3 are in jRPGs but turned to 11.
However, w.r.t RoF specifically, if you wanted to play it the best thing to do is play the prologue and chapter 1 (3-4 hours in?) on guest acct and make call then
Calibrated just right on the challenge curve to cause me pause on almost every level but still be completely solvable without any walkthroughs etc. very fun
Variety to the clone mechanic in the different chapters was nice, but i feel they could have more fully explored the parameter space with more content
Encore 8-3 (the one with no checkpoints) was such a pain in the ass. Harder than almost every level in insane mode.
Yeah it was not a fun experience. Took less time than I thought but ugh, hate when games leave things up to chance instead of skill.

Well it wasnt really chance since there's no stochastic element to the cannonfire (except after it interacts with any environmental changes brought on by you),
..but having to execute it all in one run without a chance to rest in between was a hassle because its not easy to get a precisely consistent run on the human end.
Well I've noticed that a lot of the blocks in the game don't start at the same time each retry. Lasers aren't synced, cannons shoot a bit later, etc.
It makes certain retries harder than others because of the randomness of the start times of certain blocks. Anyway, I still enjoy the game amid my frustration at times.
Ive noticed that pretty much it drops you in randomly to the portion of the cycle (rather than say crash course) but that the actual cycle is pretty deterministic
some elements (esp lasers but also cannons) seem to be able to be tuned so that you can get pretty complex metacycles if the periods are slightly dissimilar
one of my goals if i ever use the editor is design a system of auto-triggered blocks that has a sufficiently complex cycle to seem truly random.
has your opinion changed at all? I've never played it, but the game is obviously considered a top game by many.
It's not a toomah!
I thought you would once you got to a higher level. I had the same problem, that I can remember when I first played it too. I was getting raped by bandits at a school.
...and soon you will have spent 150 hours in the game and start eyeing New Vegas to get some more Fallout in! :)
Happy birthday! :-)
Happy Birthday :)
yay congrats <:o)
Happy Birthday!
Congratulations, have a wonderful day!
Haha ur old
Happy birthday! :)
I hope you saved yourself a lot of grinding and followed my guide!
Yup, although I had to use 2 dummy profiles instead of one.
yeah its very possible if you have a lot of heads that in order to get one dummy to empty you need another dummy
