Dashboard speed was good... but the current dash is faster when you don't have a ton of XBLA and giant GamerTag. So the speed of a new console doesn't much impress yet.

tag is actually located. Or the tag is fragmented across multiple sections of the drive, causing it to do more intensive reads.

They mentioned DVR in the context of recording games, but it's unclear if it will apply to TV shows.

They did mention and briefly show that games could be recorded and edited, but I'm not sure that means it will do TV recording too. Or even scheduled recording. Not to...

mention that many TV sources need a decoder card these days. So do you have to get a card for the Xbox, or is it actually sending HDMI control signals to your TV box...

Yeah, the tech said that it has HDMI in/out -- so if that was how they were doing TV, it's unlikely to have any real DVR functions. Additionally your other hardware...

Yeah, it sounds like the activation fee for the used game depends on each publisher. I think Sony will have to do something similar.

Totally agree re: Kinect. Hope most developers just use it as an optional voice command interface. Party games will be fun, but don't mess with core shooters, etc.
