A year in the life...
Well, I somehow made it through this year.
Stranger years have happened to people, but I really felt I was in a groove and set in certain areas of my life on May 13th, 2012. Now it wasn't all sunshine and rainbows, I had plenty of things that needed working on, but after the 14th, much of that changed.
You can read my old blog posts, only a few of them are really worth it. Let's just say I needed some changes and got them.
If you would have told me a year ago that mid-2013 I'd be living and working in Greece, I'd have thought you were nuts.
So what have I really taken away from this last year? In Greece, I don't speak the language well (yet), so I have to get by via the ample goodwill of the Greek people to even communicate. I've had to adjust to changes in available products, living conditions, working conditions, travel conditions, and more.
I've learned how little I really need to get by -- both food and material possession-wise. What I have learned is how important my network of friends is and will continue to be to me. That network includes people I've never even met face-to-face (yet) and have only interacted with on XBox Live and TA. I thank you all, very humbly.
I'm not "there" yet, by any stretch of the imagination. I still have much to do, but I'm believing more and more in the phrases penned by Neil Peart:
The point of the journey is not to arrive
The point of departure is not to return
Happy Wednesday, all. How long do you think the power will be out at my work, or how much gaming can I get in?
