How to unlock the Wheels of Steel achievement

Spike strips start to be deployed at heat level 3. It will count as avoided if you either go past the spike strip or if you do a U-turn before you hit it. Be sure to avoid them at all costs because hitting one will almost certainly result in being busted. To unlock this achievement, you must dodge 5 of them and successfully evade the pursuit.

Usually, spike strips and their location are announced over the police radio to 'warn' other officers(despite the fact that spike strips never actually harm police cars). Pay attention to these messages, they often help you prepare for upcoming spike strips.

Use your speedbreaker whenever you see a potential spike strip unit that you have not prepared for; it will provide you with a little extra time to navigate away. While the speedbreaker is in effect, your car will receive a hefty boost in handling, allowing you to make impossibly tight turns. The same applies to Rhino SUV units, which can and will ruin your attempt.

Hat tip to MeesterLuther and https://www.trueachievements.com/blue+silk.htm for additional information.

Lozzy DentonYes, it has to be completed in one sitting. I should have been clear about that when I originally wrote this, so I've added it in. Thanks!

ReaboAny idea how far into career I have to play until heat 3 unlocks. I keep getting to heat 5, and its impossible. Want it to cap at heat 3 if possible. Like when you first start the games, it won't go over heat 2 :P

Lozzy DentonGood question. I may have to test that to find out, but if you're doing it I'd really appreciate if you could report back, and I'll add the information to the solution.

Until I can try though, I'll speculate that when you start the game, the cap is set at level 2, and it will rise to level 3 partway through your first area. I'm confident that the cap will be level 3 before your first boss.

ReaboI really want to avoid starting again tbh. Looking into completing the career, but then cops don't appear any more apparently :p Which I need so I can start career again without losing my reward cards :/ Difficult game to get 990 on if you don't plan ahead!!! aha

Lozzy DentonI know what you mean. I think got everything, including beating the moderator (which I got due to some incredible luck a year or so ago).

The one thing I couldn't do was the gold drifting challenge. I know I've beaten it before, because I have the achievement for it. But that save got wiped accidentally and I haven't been able to complete it since.

BroaSome extra tips. Don't ever turn around, keep on going straight. And if you have to SUVs approaching you use your speedbreaker to do dodge them. And also if there are two spike stripes on the floor and you go passed both of them it counts as two. (This would have helped if I had known this, I would have saved some time....)

Lozzy DentonThanks Silk, I've added the tip about Rhino units. I'm not certain about the multiple strips bit though, so I'm going to leave that for the moment until someone confirms.
