In order to deactivate the Pyramid defense system, you first need to activate the red Pyramid mission hole. To do this you need to:

1) Shoot the Pyramid ramp with the upper right flipper.
2) Once you've started the basic Pyramid mode, you need to hit the bumpers 10 times.
3) Repeat this three times and you will enable the red Pyramid mission hole.

Once you shoot the red Pyramid mission hole multiball starts and the frustration begins. In order to deactivate the defense system you need to:

1) Shoot 6 flashing ramps. The ones you need to shoot change every 10 seconds or so. These shouldn't be too hard to do. I usually get these without paying too much attention while trying to do step 2.
2) The tricky part is that you also have to shoot all 6 "standing" targets. These are the four that say MARS on the left of the table, and two small ones just below the upper right flipper. These are very tricky to hit, mainly because you are locked in multiball view and there are no easy direct shots on most of the drop targets. Sometimes I get lucky with the right flipper and hit the M or the A but usually I just hope that they will get hit by the balls as they bounce off of each other.
3) If you manage to drop all six targets, the final two steps will probably feel easy by comparison. You need to then hit the Pyramid ramp two more times (the original ramp you hit with the upper right flipper). This isn't too bad, just be sure not to lose any balls during this time or the mode ends.

I have deactivated the defenses only once in about 30 or so times of activating the red Pyramid mission and it's the only thing keeping me from getting to the final mode as I can pretty easily complete the other three missions when compared to this one. Three times I have hit all six ramps, dropped all six targets, hit the Pyramid ramp once but drained my multiballs while trying to hit the ramp for the final time.

If anyone has any tips on shooting the 6 standing targets, please let me know. A buddy on my friends list noted that he tries to shoot the left orbit and then hold the upper right flipper so the ball shoots over to the MARS targets. However, if you hold the flipper, the ball only gets over to the area, it doesn't actually hit them. You will still need to hit the ball with another ball in order to get it to bounce into the targets.

Good luck!
