To UNLOCK the Mind Blowing Mode you need to clear the game without continuing on any difficulty. (thx to Al Soure).
To make it easier it is possible to set your lifes to 9 in the options then clear the game on easiest difficulty without continue. You won´t obtain the achievement for "Clear the Game without continuing" but you will unlock the Mind blowing Mode from thereon. Shouldn´t be that much of a problem if you use Cards and the magic barrier frequently.
I did this with Louis in Single play.
To get the Achievement itself you have to set the options back to default of course.
