All you have to do is get 5 stars on one of the story cases. This can be done by finding all the clues, guessing correctly on the investigations, and causing very little damage to public property. Some of you may even get this achievement without trying. If you want to go out of your way to get this, I have wrote an extensive guide for the mission "a marriage made in heaven".
This achievement directly ties into two other achievements
The The Third Degree achievement in L.A. Noire worth 35 pointsCorrectly branch every question in every interview in a single story case.
and possibly a 4th if you have 4 spare intuition points (read Dudley Lynch notes below)
The The Hunch achievement in L.A. Noire worth 45 pointsUse four intuition points in a single interview session, correctly branching each question.
TO HELP GET THE 5 STAR ACHIEVEMENT PRESS Y near vehicles to have your partner drive. You can then press A which works as a fast travel.
With that said, I made this guide for the "a marriage made in heaven". Finally, a warning :

Clues to obtain before talking to anyone:
1. Wallet found on the left coat pocket of the victim
2. Life insurance found the the right coat pocket of the victim
3. A bloody knife found in thegarbage can in the alleyway beside the cafe.

just follow my guide but before each question press LB to use 1 intuition point then choose either the ask the community or remove an answer option. Then proceed to answer correctly with my question. You need to be questioning someone with 4 questions for this achievement. Dudley's 4th question may not appear if you have not followed my guide exactly because I remember him only having 3 questions on my first playthrough but I only received 2 stars on that case and I missed two or so questions of his.

Finally, before leaving the bar use the telephone to call in the tip for the car identification provided by Shannon Perry. After the phone call, change your destination to the guys house and have your partner drive. Upon arrival, a chase will ensue. Be careful not too cause too much damage because this can lower your rating to 4 stars.

After you leave her house, use a gamewell (old outdoor phone found on street corners) to hear your message from the coroner and then go pay a visit to him. Once you are done talking to the coroner and if you have been following my guide and picked up the knife at the very beginning this will pop:
All you have to do now is travel back to the Pattison residence and a chase with Lerou Sabo will take place. Dispatch of him however you see fit (I shot him twice in the first alleyway). The easiest mission to obtain 5 stars is "The Quarter Moon Murders", the last Homicide Desk case. As you dont ask any questions during the case, all you have to do is to drive safely and get all the 15 clues. Dont worry about them, you have to find them all to solve the case and they are no hard to found.
I dare say that this achievement is unmissable with this case. |

This is very similar to the "Gold Medal" achievement in Red Dead Redemption. I got this on my first case as a traffic detective. Looking at the Case Report screen, It looks like you up your rating by finding clues, answering questions correctly, and keeping your vehicle and city damage to a minimum. Also, It looks as though you also need to keep your injuries (dying) to a minimum, although I can't confirm that since I did not die. In my case, I found all 12 clues, answered 10/12 questions correctly, had vehicle damage at $11, Injuries at $0 and city damage at $10. Keep these numbers low and it should pop without a problem. Just be sure to spend time hunting for clues and make good use of your intuition points to ensure you don't fail too many questions. Drive safely and try not to run through any light posts and such. Lastly, I am not sure if letting your partner drive will help with the vehicle/city damage number staying low, so if someone can let me know, that'd be great.
Edit: 5/17/11 - I originally thought that "Injuries" meant your personal deaths in a mission. That is incorrect. What that means is how many injuries you caused to innocent civilians. I ran over one in a mission and was charged $50 for it. So note that and be careful anytime you are driving, most especially when you are in a car chase. |
