This can be quite tricky, even on casual difficulty. I would suggest going for this on the first major boss encounter against Rajani. There is a save point just outside the boss fight. Whilst here, unequip all your good gear and equip all your starter gear. You will know which gear this is as it will all be worth 0 gold. Make doubly sure you are not equipping any rings or trinkets that come via the collectors edition DLC as these do void the achievement (they did for me anyway).

Once you are sure you have everything set as starter gear, fight the boss. It will heavily depend on which character you are using but some tips will work regardless. Firstly, try and avoid damage as much as possible. Even on casual, she can strip a full health bar off you in your crappy gear very fast. Abuse your healing ability, it will save you in this fight.

First form really just needs you to dodge when she hurls the spear at you and maintain a distance as much as possible to avoid her spinning attack.

Second form is the trickier part (at least I found it to be). Trick here is to deal as much damage as possible to the boss. When you do enough, she will teleport away from you and spawn blue fire portals on the ground. DO NOT stand in these as they will tick your life away very fast. Also, be wary of the boss shooting blue fire at you. When you see this, dodge away immediately and make sure not to stand still. If it does hit you, it will ignite the floor beneath you and will kill you in one shot.

It will also be easier playing co-op as the computer can sometimes take an age to revive you. In the second form of this boss fight, that will spell defeat.

Hopefully, using these tips, you will get her down fairly quickly. When I did the achievement I used Katarina and I must say, her ranged attacks helped a great deal.

I can also confirm thanks to several people that your partner can wear any gear they like as long as you only have on your starter gear. Also to confirm, this boss is the first (and easiest) chance you get at this achievement as the mini bosses don't count.

stefb42i found this easier to get on the final boss, final boss is pretty poor plus your ai helper will have all the best of gear and abilities to help you out, your abilities by this point in the game should be enough to keep you alive too with no problems

VannosI guess only certain bosses are 'bosses.' By that I mean, simply anyone with a health bar at the top is not a 'boss.' I killed the witch at the end of the Songstorm cave with only my starter gear and didnt get the achievement. I also killed various other named enemies too, but didnt get it.

ponypo2001@ Vannos. I thought I'd mentioned that in the solution so I've added a note at the end. Sadly, it only works on the main game bosses.

m0rph3us17Good guide. I got this on casual difficulty against Rajani after 2 or 3 attempts (playing as Katarina).

Monkeyman1188yeah, all those with health above their heads are not proper boss's, just high people, i did fight all of them, well actually, do the whole first round in my first armour lot lol.
almost to he final boss, gonna save it and do it twice, one for the armour one and then another for not using health, ive done it on hardcore and normal, easy is soo easy now, lol but i guessed the first boss would be easiest, well done on your compeltion of it

Phoenix C64i saved before the fight on my hardcore run, set diff. to casual and killed her. no chievo. then i removed my rings and DING: chievo. weird, because those where the rings i got from the start and i didn't have any sort of preorder dlc or anything.
oh and i did it with my partner also "naked" and no rings. just in case.

Hexa FoxI did this with a buddy in cooperative. He was Ajani and I was Katarina. He used the fire jackal and I abused my healing abilities while sniping her. We got it on our second attempt. +1

ChucklestyleI was Katarina with Anjeli as an idle co op partner. After a couple tries, I gave Angeli a ring which I enchanted with Vampire. Made it a lot easier for her to stay alive and therefore draw aggro while I launched my curse and power shot.

l BlackBrian7 lI just beat Jeyne Kassynder with no equipment and it didn't count as one of the valid boss fights. On a different solution someone mentions only Rajani, Dapper Old Gent, and the Final Boss count for this achievement.
