The easiest way to beat Koth without problem is to use the White deck and restart the match until you have a Kor Duelist and one or two cheap equipment artifact (trusty machete and / or kitesail) in your starting hand.
Play duelist in first turn, equip the artifacts as soon as you can, and attack in every turn. Don't bother blocking he will die first.
Difficulty doesn't matter because Koth attacks and use his Rockslide Elemental very well even on easy (Mage). |

Koth is the first opponent in the campaign and plays a mono-red deck. Which as experienced players will know means his deck is full of 'burn' spells (spells which cause damage to creatures or players). Against Red I would suggest using the Green deck, as it's higher toughness creatures makes it slightly more difficult for the spells to kill them.
Using cards like Overrun when you've multiple creatures in play is a sure fire way to win.
If you're having difficulty playing on the higher difficulties you can drop the difficulty level.
Once you defeat Koth the achievement is unlocked. |

Koth is the first Campaign Planeswalker, and uses a Strength of Stone Red Deck. You will only have a White Equipment Deck and a Mono Green deck when you start out to defeat him. These are his key cards:
3x Spitting Eath 1R
Deals damage to target creature equal to the number of Mountains he controls.
2x Spire Barrage 4R
Deals damage to target creature or player equal to the number of Mountains he controls
2x Koth's Courier 1RR
Forestwalk 2/3
2x Rockslide Elemental 2R
First Strike
Whenever another creature dies, R. Elemental adds a +1/+1 counter. 1/1
2x Oxidda Scrapmelter 3R
Upon entering the battlefield, destroys target Artifact
This is unlike the Hands of Flame deck from the other game, so if he pulls out Rockslide Elemental, you have to think if it is worth killing creatures (or getting creatures killed), the other cards are decent counters on your cards, but he should be simple enough to defeat. |
