To break Ryo's Record you need to have a final score higher than 8,470.

Points break down:
First Place-4,500
No Damage (if possible)-500
Drift points-3,470

I found it difficult to get no damage so I just figured I'd get 0 so I aimed for a drift score of 3,970. I ended up getting this with Aki Kimura's Mazda RX-7 running his pre-tuned setup.

It was actually easy with his car I got it on my second try after numerous attempts with other cars. Just make sure you aim for each turns apex. I usually aimed for 1,300+ drift points after the first turn and hill. Then tried to have at least 2,700+ after the straight away with the chicanes. Then just nitrous the last two big turns and hope for the best.

Good drifting score in Prostreet is achieved(IMO) by following a couple of factors: length of drift, high engine power mixed with crappy traction. Yes crappy traction as in low end tires(stock). By having high end tires combined with high horsepower you will end up running the track length rather quickly, earning about one to two thousand points. If you have low end tires you'll end up burning rubber(drifting) but at a lower pace, at an easier control level and earning lots of drift points.
Now that I've bored you with the theory lets get to work. You'll need $170k in cash, if you do not want to waste that kind of money but do have it then change your autosave feature to manual save so after you earn the achievement all you'll have to do is reload your last save. Go to the car lot, purchase the mazda rx7, go to your blueprint and upgrade all mechanical aspects to stage three parst except the tires? Leave them at stock grade. Do not touch the rims, body, spoilers, etc.
Go to the drift event as specified(React Team Sessions at Drift at Tokyo Dockyard II). On the first bend make a hard right to start the drift, maneuver the car into a 45 degree angle and slam into the wall as shown. You will be riding the walls as much as possible. With the type of horsepower at hand and bad tires your car will be scraping the walls, slowing your pace, earning points as you go. At the end of the downhill you'll probably be at a good two thousand points. Do not let go of the gas, at the bottom of the hill try to make a hard left and slam on a 45 deg angle against the cargo carts, believe it or not there is an invisible wall there if you go at a descent speed. Ride that wall and try to continue riding it into the bend. If you are slowing down then use a nitro. Do not worry about the obstacles in place, with descent speed you can run over them and nothing will happen. If you can't drift into the last corners then back up a bit, gain speed and nitr drift into the finish line.

The second video shows how you can reverse to gain speed if you mess up.

After running this one a number of times and getting frustrated that I couldn't get a high enough score -- I would hit 3500+, but have damage that would remove the 500-point damage bonus and put me below the record -- I tried a different tack. I ran the race with a fully damaged car.

If you have ever noticed, there is an upper threshold on a car for "light" and "heavy" damage. After each race and re-set, I was spending a marker or cash for the same $4710 worth of car damage. Instead of fixing it, I tested to see if running it like this could damage it "more". Even though I hit walls and was squirrely all over the track, since my car had already hit the maximum amount of "damage" that it could get for "light damage" the extra hits didn't count against me in the end-scoring, and instead of losing points or getting a "0" bonus for damage, my end score gave me a 500pt bonus for mere "light damage" but there was no damage in that race added to my car.
