For me, beating this achievement was difficult because I would accidentally kill the final guy without realizing it and miss my chance at easy crate pickups. The method I'm going to describe will get it for you in 8 rounds playing solo (if you try this with others, you will need to get 30 each, so do it solo). I listed 9 rounds on the chart in case you accidentally mess up a round.
Settings: This Is Suicide, Solo Practice, Recruit Difficulty
Using the chart below, you can figure out how many kills it will take to trigger the next level. I am not sure if this is affected by coop play, as I made it while playing solo. The number of kills can easily be tracked by your score once the mission starts. 1 kill = 10 points. If you return any crates during the round, be sure to subtract 50 from your score for each one and do not repair any barricades as the repairs will affect your score. Also, if you return crates after killing the final enemy and before the new wave starts, the score will be unaffected. For round one, you will want to stop killing when you get to 130 points (assuming all points were earned for killing). At that point, start capturing crates. You can get 4 crates per wave (except wave 5, where you probably only want to try for 2 as noted below), so this should take only 8 waves to get the achievement. 7 waves * 4 crates = 28 crates + 2 crates in wave 5 = 30 crates.
Wave...Kills To Trigger Next Round....Enemies Present 1.......14..............................Normal Soldiers 2.......19..............................Normal Soldiers 3.......19..............................Normal Soldiers 4.......24..............................Scavengers (Leapers), Normal Soldiers at end 5.......29..............................Scavengers (Leapers) 6.......40..............................Cultists 7.......46..............................Cultists (one commenter noted they saw 47) 8.......38..............................Cultists, Exploding Cultists 9.......27..............................Exploding Cultists
Hints/strategies: Lead the final enemy back out to the street to kill them so that you can grab a crate before the next wave starts. Try to grab the crate the farthest out. Don't get greedy. Only grab one crate before the start of a round, wait to get the other 3 until you've got only one enemy left.
With cultists, while you can disable their legs and force them to crawl, they will eventually die. You can't injure a cultist and expect them to live long enough for you to return 3 crates.
Wave 4 and 5 were the most difficult ones for me. I recommend using the riot shield, if you have it and camp out on the 3rd floor balcony above the stairs. The scavengers will climb up immediately to your right and are easy to kill while they climb over the wall. At the end of wave 4, there will be a few soldiers that will appear. Be sure that one of them is the final remaining enemy when you go to collect crates, since the scavengers are really hard to avoid when carrying crates. The spot I am recommending is shown in the screenshot below:
Wave 5 - I only returned 2 crates on this wave. I grabbed one when the crates first spawned and there were no enemies and the other when I got down to the final scavenger. I took a lot of damage returning the 2nd one and didn't think I could get another without dying, so I went ahead and killed him and started the next wave.
Wave 8 - Try to ensure the final enemy is a normal cultist. You don't want to be chased by an exploding one while trying to collect crates.
Finally, I found a good spot to camp out to keep enemies from spawning behind you. This location will help keep everybody in front of you and hard to get to, but beware of the occasional grenade toss. This spot is also on the 3rd floor balcony, but is behind the staircase on the far right. See the following screenshot:

Hey guys, this achievement is for returning 30 crates in one game of Contractions. It's actually easier than you would think it is.
Now I managed to do this with 1 other friend, it's a lot easier than trying to convince 3 other people to do this. First, you'll want to choose the level This is Suicide. This level has 4 crates that spawn every round. Commute only spawns 3 crates and has such close quarters that enemies practically spawn on top of you. Mechanized is too big to hunt down, most of the time you'll finish the round before getting all the crates plus mechs spawn.
As soon as the match starts head straight out and find your first crate, have your friend searching to point them out also. Your friend should always be calling out where the next crates are. Always grab the farthest ones first. You can usually get 2 crates turned in before a wave starts. Your friend will need to hold the "aggro" of all the enemies, it won't be too hard for him since it will be the beginning waves. Try to take the shortcuts through windows and the boarded up doors, they will save you a lot of time.
This method will require you to be outside durring most of the fights so when you cap the last crate, head out and all the way to the back, eliminating any remaining enemies, so you can quickly grab the next crate. With this method, it should only require you to reach round 7 and have 2 crates from that round.
As the other solution says that people have gotten it without collecting exactly 30. I have yet to see this, everyone that I know who has this achievement has recieved it at 30.
If you think there is anything I have left out and should add, please leave a comment and I will update the solution. |

I did this solo, like these other solutions, but here's some extra tips for the waves-it's actually not too difficult solo.
General Tips: Sprinting, Slide Attacking, Jumping back and forth as you move forward, going around and over obstacles will throw off enemy pursuit and soldiers' aim. A level 21 character is recommended, as you'll have faster Health regen, allowing you to duck behind cover for second or two and get moving again quickly. If you've got a crowd following you around, enter and exit the main building through different pathways. Bring crates in through the 1st floor entry ways, then sprint upstairs and jump off the 2nd or 3rd floors so the enemies get caught up navigating the environment.
Choose Multiplayer Solo Practice, This is Suicide, Recruit Difficulty.
Waves 1-3 are Normal Soldiers, all of which you can pretty much ignore as you grab the crates and run them inside. The soldiers with SMGs and Assault Rifles are fairly stupid, so you can dodge their fire and slow them down by jumping over barricades and weaving around obstacles. The only soldiers you should kill immediately are the Shotgun soldiers because they rush you. Otherwise just sprint around collecting the crates. Once you have all four per wave, kill the rest of the soldiers. You should have 12 crates at the end of Wave 3.
Wave 4 consists of Soldiers and HellSpawn(the doglike demons). You should have a Riot Shield available somewhere, but if you don't, grab the SMG and Shotgun and run up to the 3rd floor of the main building and hide in the alcove to the left of the stairs(if you're looking out of the building). The dogs will reach you faster than the soldiers, so wipe them out until you don't hear their distinguishing gallop sound effects. Once it's nothing but soldiers remaining, start grabbing crates and giving the soldiers the runaround until you have all 4 crates, then finish the wave. You'll have 16 crates.
Wave 5 is all Hellspawn dogs, so grab 1 crate before the Wave begins and hide up on the 3rd floor with a full Shotgun, SMG and/or Riot Shield. You can be crafty and try to get another crate once the numbers are thin enough, but if you wanna play it safe, just snag the 1, which will bring you to 17 crates.
Wave 6 and 7 are all Melee Cultists, who are as dumb as the SMG/AR soldiers, with the added bonus of them not shooting at you. You can easily outrun/outsmart them by sprinting away and hopping over and around obstacles, don't even bother killing them until you've collected all 4 crates in each round. If they overwhelm you, just Slide attack and sprint away. You'll snag 8 total crates between these two rounds, bringing the total to 25.
Wave 8 consists of Melee Cultists and Suicide Bomb Cultists. If you're looking/facing out of the building, grab the SMG/AR/Needle Rifle and run up to the 3rd floor. Go outside to the balcony on the far right that overlooks the double staircase. The cultists will be easy pickings as they climb up trying to get at you. Kill the Melee cultists that get near you, but make sure the Suicide Cultists are your primary focus, as the number of Melee Cultists outnumbers the amount of Suicide Cultists. Listen closely for the bomb ticking sound effects--once you can't hear the ticking, you've cleared out the bombers, leaving you with Melee Cultists. Run around and grab all 4 crates, then kill the rest of the cultists and finish the wave, bringing your total to 29.
Once Wave 8 ends, run out and grab/return Crate 30 before Wave 9 begins, Achievement Unlocked.
As I said, I'd highly recommend you have a high level character with quick health regen and Slide Kick, as the soldiers will be shooting and hitting you, but the fast healing will let you duck behind obstacles for a life saving quick heal. |

As the achievement says you must return 30 crates in one game of Contractions. To make the distinction right now....You must return 30 Yourself to get the achievement. The best way to do this is to start a game on easy with four friends and play through the waves with one of you collecting all the crates. There are four crates per wave. You can collect these both before the wave starts and during. Always make sure to leave one enemy alive until the player going captures the last crate so that four new crates spawn every wave. Before killing the last enemy have everyone fan out to help the carrier find the crates faster at the beginning of the next wave. Also make sure to grab the farthest crate first during the time between waves.
Also although I received it at 30 crates on the dot one person I did this with received the achievement four crates early. So keep that in mind while playing |

I got this achievement by myself, and found it easier than playing with other people.
To start, make sure you're level 21, go to "SOLO PRACTICE" in the multiplayer menu, you want to be on the level "This is Suicide", on recruit difficulty. No need to be making things harder than they already are.
A Couple things to note. This map has 4 crates randomly spawned before each wave. 30 is required for the achievement. 4 x 8 = 32, you'll need to complete up to a total of 8 waves to do this. This is not the case however.
To explain, Waves 1 - 3 are easy. Just run around killing soldiers picking up crates and running them back (if a soldier stands in your way, you can melee with the crate by pressing RS (Right Stick). It does not matter which floor of the building you return to, but I returned to the first floor making it faster to go get another.
For waves 4 and 5, IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A RIOT SHIELD ON THE WALL, RESTART. Waves 4 and 5 consist of the monkey enemies that can easily get the best of you. HOWEVER, if you use the riot shield, you can melee faster than with any other gun or your knife, and 4 hits kills one. Plus you're more protected with the shield as long as you keep the enemy in front of you (easy to do). I DID NOT GET ANY CRATES IN EITHER OF THESE WAVES, AS IT FORCES YOU TO DROP THE SHIELD, WHICH IS LIKE REMOVING YOUR ONLY DEFENSE!!!
Wave 6 is the psycho like guys who carry crowbars, pipes, wrenches, etc. These are easy, I used the penetrator, constantly aimed for the chest, and kept running backwards, all while picking up crates and running them back.
Wave 7 is the psycho guys, as well as some suicide bombers. This wave you need to be careful, the suicide bombers will sometimes leap toward you if they cannot catch you after a period of time/ if you fail to shoot them for a period of time. If two of these guys hit you, you're dead. Carefulness is MANDATORY.
Wave 8 is also psychos and suicide bombers, be careful, aim for their bombs, and you should have nothing to worry about. I'd say wait until you got like a couple guys left (You'll know when you're almost done with the wave, as they'll stop appearing so frequently) to get crates.
Wave 9 was a make-up wave for me to get crates, It contains suicide bombers. ONLY SUICIDE BOMBERS. BE VERY CAREFUL. Wait for the numbers to shrink before heading for the crates.
Wave 10 was the final makeup wave for me, and it contained the glowy eyed soldiers with the 3 round burst gun, as well as snipers. Take out ANY and ALL snipers you see immediately before picking up a crate.
Tips:
- Once you pick up a crate, you cannot drop it (if you can, I never figured out how).
- You can melee with the crate as mentioned earlier (RS or Right Stick), this melee attack should only be used in extreme circumstances, and not all the time as it is VERY WEAK.
- Your guy runs SLOW AS HELL with a crate in his hand. If you don't think you can make it, don't even try it. Lower enemy numbers then do it.
- Don't take stupid risks. I failed three times previously for trying to outrun the hounds, and another time for thinking I could bunny hop into the store faster than I could get shot by enemies. |
