Firstly, I did this as an Egyptian / Greek Co-op
Using consumable soldiers Age 2 and Age 3, both players managed to take out the right hand side base.
During the initial attacks, both starting bases were lost Unfortunately my Greek partner didn’t manage to escape with any villagers. So its pretty much Solo from here on (although I see no reason why this couldn't work with two people, strongly recommend a Voice chat, as a base can be levelled in under 40s.
When the starting bases were wiped I wasn't in Age 4. Using a Storehouse I acquired the remaining resources and built the Temple of Ptah.
Sent one villager to the top right corner and built a Town Center (TC). This was my main base for the majority of the mission although it did get wiped out a few times from the Elite Battering Ram / Catapult squad. Using Farms and a Market I slowly acquired technology and built up an army.
Here are some suggestions that I would recommend to others attempting this:
0) Always have a Market.
1) Try and keep the resources required to build a new TC in reserve at all times. Many times I lost 2 of the 3 corners.
2) Control 3 corners of the map (Ideally each base should have a TC, check area with villager in case TC will attempt to kill a random storehouse nearby and bring the enemy mob). (Right Corner (base), bottom corner (backup base) preparation for the predictable slaughter and left corner, housing and wood chopping and MARKET!
3) It is very important to keep houses and army separate, army can trigger army mob.
4) Farm (half cost farm tech is recommended) all food, gold and stone resources, it keeps your villager close to the base and avoids agro.
5) Be careful of taking out trees, if an enemy villager on the other side sees you make preparations for the base to wiped out again
6) Hold out, and don't give up. Eventually and I stress this, the AI will seem to stop attacking. This is when you can finally build up a killing force.
7) Leave villagers and other non-military units until the end. They use up the AI pop limit and enemy Palintons and use up five pop cap. Once Palintons are placed they don't seem to move again making them easy to avoid or take out with a villager or two later on.
8) Army composition: I used a combination of Champion War Elephants and Champion Kophesh Swordsman (Advisor: Blademaster Khaba). (Armory research is strongly recommended)
9) Consumable soldiers and gold mines are very useful, it’s faster than using market and consumable soldiers allow you to break the standard 200 pop limit. Bandit fortresses were also very good early on while farm count was still low.
10) While taking out either of the smaller bases’ Town Centers seems to trigger a mob of Elite Hippikons (yay.... bye bye army) thankfully it's one off per Town Center.
11) Epic equipment helps it can mean the difference between surviving with something after 6 epic palintons hits or not =P
12) Will take a long time, took approximately 3 to 4 hours, wish shared unit control was in this game...
13) Luck is involved!
Hope this helps someone, if it helps you please vote positive (curious to see if this works for anyone else than anything) Feel free to leave comments =)
P.S. One my second attempt at this map to help a friend with the achievement we managed to do it in just over 2 hours bouncing between corners. |

First of all, this is the hardest mission in the normal game (not counting the crete dlc), its the last mission in the COOP ONLY series, so its doable only in coop (5th mission, after "we're like peas and carrots"). The enemy has 2 cities and they will atack in the first 5 minutes, and then continuenly attack forever with all type of units from infantry, range, cavalry to ballistas, rams and palintonons.(many of the units will be elites)
The best strategy is to defend yourself nonstop, by building walls and fortresses, many villagers and during defense, you will build your army. CONSUMABLES (like cows, fortresses, mines etc) help A LOT. Not to mention, that epic stuff too helps, without its nearly impossible to beat it.
First of all, build walls but leave a small hole in it, because the enemy will come trough there and its easier to kill them. After building the walls, build 2-3 fortresses and as many villagers as possible to send them for gathering stuff.
Make Somathophylaxes and Hypaspists to defend, do not make archers, they will be 1 hit-kill for the enemy. Also make priests, they will be of great help with the healing/convert ability for your army.
Not too late into the mission, they will start bringing siege weapons, first rams, then ballistas and finally palintonons; if u dont have any units, send your villagers to destroy them.
If you manage to survive long enough to have resources for creating an army, the best combination i found is ballista+hippikkons. 10 b + 20-25 h will be enough to wipe one of their city.
Finally the mission requires good communication with your partner and , of course, luck.
Key units are:
1) fortresses (DEF), wall (DEF) 2) hypaspists (DEF), hippikons (at age IV DMG), somathophylaxes (900+ HP, DEF), priests (HEAL, converting Elites) 3) ballistas (DMG), palintonons (DEF)
Resources:
1) food, gold - hypaspists, somathophylaxes, priests 2) wood, stone - fortresses, wall, repairing 3) wood, gold - ballistas, palintonons |
