NOTE: As of September 7, the base score was increased, and mines were decreased. This guide works for all versions, but the scoring is accurate only for the fully updated version of the game. For the unupdated version, the base score is 150pts with 15 mines, and a bonus of 37pts with the XP bonus powerup, and 30pts for no flags used. This will total 217pts

Ultimate Rank unlocks at 24,900 experience. I suggest you grind this one last, since going for all the other achievements will net you experience progress anyways.

The fastest method of points / time combination is the Beginner Speed level, 9x9. Since it's speed, you start with 30 seconds and gain a small amount of time for every number you reveal, and there are 12 mines in total.

This will get you 200 points per level (it usually takes me about a minute, sometimes 2) plus an extra 40 if you don't put down any flags. With the XP Bonus powerup, there is an extra 50 points if you complete the level.

XP Bonus and without using flags, you will gain 200-290 points per game.

Use the following powerups, prioritized in the order they're listed, for the most points and biggest benefits.

1st - XP Bonus, replace shield (0 tokens, gives 25% bonus points for completions - 50 points in Beginner Speed)
2nd - Shield (20 tokens, protects against 1 bomb per level)
3rd - Lucky (30 tokens, shows all spaces of the highest number on the level, if the number is 4 or greater.)

Once you get XP Bonus, always make sure you have that selected. Next most important is shield, then lucky.

I recommend Beginner Speed mode. You get 150 points per victory instead of just 100 points (on Beginner Classic). And if you enable the Book power up (25% point increase), you'll get 187 points per victory. The only difference is that there are 5 more mines in Speed mode vs. Classic.

For those of you wondering about the harder mode point rewards, it's not worth the time to play Intermediate/Advanced modes. You get between 200-250 on Intermediate, and 300-350 on Advanced. The only problem is that it takes so long to complete a level on those modes that you're better off playing multiple levels on Beginner.

I got this just under 25,000 xp. I found the easiest way to get xp quick is to simply beat the beginner 7x7 board over and over. Took me about 3-4 hours of winning 75% of the beginner boards to get that much xp.

For everyone that unlocked achievement using clock trick and it didn't unlock once the date arrives that the clock was on here is what I did. Go into settings then over to applications Go down to games turn off connect to xbox live. Now Uninstall the game and re install. (leave xbox live off) now when you load the game back up your rank will be fresh. Now you will have to keep xbox live off while you rank back up. I have been playing on easy 7x7 I make 1,000xp every 15mins I don't use any power ups other then the xp bonus. Once the achievement unlocks go ba k into settings turn xbox live settings then load up xbox extras and let everything sync back up..

I am actually wondering how many people do want to finish this game, but just in case you aren't a minesweeper pro and yet a free game with free gamerscore cannot be kept away, if you can manage the rest of the achievements, this one is less of a grind if you use the following method.

There is a good glitch in the system which allows you to rank up fast enough, without changing the date/time of your phone. Also, it does not require you to be masterful, but just use a little logic and the XP keeps increasing.

So here's what you do. Load up any game: I choose the Beginner Speed with 9 x 9 mines. Try and complete the field. If you're not a pro, you'll usually end up landing on a mine. The game gets over. It shows you a partial completion score. At this moment, press "Skip". Do not do it before and do not let the game load the final score for you. If you manage to do this, as I have repeatedly, you get twice the completion bonus added to your score.

So, if you got 25 as partial completion bonus, hit skip once you see the number and the final screen registers it as a +50 towards your XP.

Hope this helps the non-pros out there. I have managed to get around 700 per 15 minutes with this technique.

Earn Ultimate in almost half the time!

In order to reach ultimate you must reach 24,900 experience points. Since this achievement is cumulative, any work towards other achievements will help progress this achievement.

The fastest way to get this achievement is to play Beginner Speed. You may want to practice on the non-timed Beginner if you do not feel comfortable with the timer.

I recommend the following power-ups.

1. XP Bonus (Adds 62 exp per game)
2. Shield (Protect against 1 mine)
3. Any (I prefer EMP for those times you have to guess)

Normally, each time you play and complete the beginner speed puzzle you will receive 250 exp + 62 bonus exp = 312 exp.

However, I've found a method to almost cut the grind in half. As soon as you finish a puzzle, the score screen will pop up. When you see the score of 250 displayed, quickly tap the skip button. When you get to the final screen showing your total exp, you will notice that it went up by 562, instead of the normal 312. By skipping at the screen displaying 250 you just added another 250 to your exp!

This also works if you fail. When you see the partial completion score pop up, immediately hit the skip button and it will count twice towards your total exp.
