Make a charismatic, friendly Sim, and move him/her in to the Northeastern starter home (furnished, for simplicity).

Befriend Rebecca Goth (across the street) until you can ask her to "Move In" with you. Bring Buttons Goth, her cat, into your home (you don't really need Rebecca to move in, for simplicity's sake, just her cat, though you get a little extra cash if Rebecca moves in, too).

Since Buttons comes with 5 traits already, this makes the remainder of your job MUCH easier -- her starting traits are:

1) Independent
2) Genius
3) Neat
4) Proud
5) Quiet

So, four more to add:

6) Adventurous -- have Buttons jump up ("Sit On") the table top and counter top, alternately, until she learns this trait -- should take approximately 8 "Sit on" commands.

7) Non-Destructive -- buy a Scratching Post, and have Buttons repeatedly scratch that post -- should take about 8 such commands.

8) Aggressive -- When the paper boy (or, girl) comes around in the morning, have Buttons "Tackle" him/her. Buttons will attempt to auto-groom self after doing so, which you should immediately cancel out of, and initiate another "Tackle" command. Again, after about 8 repetitions, Buttons will learn this trait.

9) Hunter -- One of the easiest of all, though the most time consuming of all of these -- train Buttons to Hunt, using your Sim, then take control of Buttons and command her to "Stalk Something" repeatedly, until this trait is learned.
