To achieve this, I purchased the "Skilled Digger" lifetime reward on my pet dog (costing 10,000 lifetime happiness points). In the description, it says this reward may allow your litter to be born natural-born diggers.

I then used to the command "try for puppies" with her male partner, and when she finally had the litter, one of the pups was born a "Natural-Born Digger" :).

You will need a pet house to be able to breed. It can be any pet house (so long as it has a roof on it), you can even use one of your neighbours' pet houses which saves you having to buy your own. :)

Note: The cat equivalent is called "Skilled Hunter", also costs 10,000 lifetime happiness points and can be passed on in the same manner as with the dogs.

Edit: Buying the lifetime reward "strong genes" for the pet you wish to breed can also increase your chances of breeding a natural digger or hunter. "Fertility treatment" is also a lifetime reward option as it gives you the chance of having a larger litter, thereby increasing your chances. - DarkSquall1
