This achievement is obtained after completing the first Dark Brotherhood mission.
To start this questline, travel to Windhelm. The first city guard you speak to should mention a "curse" and direct you to the Aretino residence. Before entering the residence, you will overhear a conversation outside between Grimvar Cruel-Sea and Idesa Sadri, and they will be discussing what Aventus Aretino has done. You can speak to them to gain additional information, then follow up by entering the house and talking to Aventus, which will trigger the "Innocence Lost" quest.
Upon completing Innocence Lost, you will receive a message from a courier. After that, go to sleep in a place OTHER THAN Windhelm, and the "With Friends like These" quest will begin when you wake up. Astrid will offer you a choice. Complete the mission (you can't make a wrong choice--I chose all three and received accolades for it) and the achievement will pop.
WARNING: If you attack and kill Astrid, the entire questline will close to you and you will not be able to get this achievement, "Bound Until Death" or "Hail Sithis" on this playthrough. |

Same as the above but with a different style. This can still be completed once the quest "Hero of Skyrim" has been completed as well. The two people outside the house are a small child and an elf who are speaking about the Dark Brotherhood. You then go inside the residence and speak to the child and he will give you a quest.
A message from a courier may not be necessary. I did not get a message. Just go to sleep in any place other than Windhelm & the quest will begin it's pretty self explanatory from then on.
What ever you do, do not kill Astrid! Otherwise as stated above the other achievements through her will not be possible in that play through.
NOTE: After more playing of the game, a courier did come to me. But this was hours and hours after I completed the quest, but doing it before the courier comes to you, does not matter! It can still be done as normal. |
