OK guys, I might have pinned down a location for the tax collector. I went to the same spot and same time as this dude in the video (credits goes to GameNitedotNet). I made sure to also hide so as not to scare the collector before I could see him.
SPOT : Haggia Sophia tunnel entrance.
TIME : Bank deposit trigger.
First time, nothing happened. Must be because there are 3 bank deposits in an ACR day : daytime, evening, night, with 20 min between each.
But the second time, the collector also appeared on my radar at the exact moment when the bank deposit triggered. He was coming at me from a different direction than in the video, but still, there he was.
And yes I had completed the game and locked all my dens, and no I wasnt in full awareness. So neither one is a requirement.
Edit : Since a very few people still seem to have a hard time, I'll list a few more tips mentionned in the comments.
- Make sure to hide
- To some people he appeared 2-3 mintues after the deposit, so stay sharp.
- Pay close attention to the radar, since he comes from a random direction.
- If you fail and he dies, exit the animus and come back in, just to make sure he doesnt keep any "dead" status.

Alright people here is the deal with this stupid achievement. It is PURE luck to have a tax collector appear. I can confirm that you DO NOT need to have money deposited before one appears. I was just waiting around and he spawned in an alley. Everyone saying you MUST have money deposited first before a tax collector appears is wrong, I'm not trying to knock any of the other solutions but it's false! 5 minutes after I found a tax collector, money was deposited in my bank! I would suggest staying out of sight, apparently if they even see you without being on your radar they can still run away before you even notice the red money bag icon on your radar. I can also confirm that killing one will NOT affect them respawning. I accidentally killed one very early on in the game and I finally ran into another tax collector near the end of the story. If it helps ill list what I had done prior to running into a tax collector and hopefully clear up some confusion with this achievement.
- My Templar awareness was about half full
- I had no money in my bank, I did withdraw about 10 minutes earlier
- I was in sequence 8 ( really doubt this matters at all)
- I had all my dens liberated with master assassins ( proving you do not need to be in a Templar controlled area)
- I encountered mine near the bank beside the SOUTH PORT tunnel ( this is the most commonly reported spawning area for them) I was hiding beside the tunnel entrance that you need to finish sequence 4 to make it accessible ( you need to start a riot during story mode)
I hope this helps anyone struggling with this, just be patient and he will spawn! |
