This achievement is called "Elf-Friend" and is story related and unmissable.

After you fight the troll on the level Fornost, you will meet the two elf twins, Elladan & Elrohir.
You will help them fight through some enemies and when they speak of heading to Rivendell at a cut scene, the achievment will unlock.
