This game comes with 285 missions (15 for each character) and the mission achievements will unlock at 2 specific completion rates:

17% Mastered the Basics
35% Mastered the Master?

So you basically have to finish 5 missions (6 if you want to go sure) with every character which is a lot more reachable than it was in Continuum Shift. The first mission will always teach you the individual special commands for each character while the second mission is all around Distortion Drives and Astral Heats. All other missions until 6/7 are basic bread and butter combos which shouldn´t be too much of a problem for people who´ve played Blazblue or other fighting games before. If I´d have to compare CS and CS:Extend missions I´d say that the average CS:Extend mission from 8/9 and above is like the usual number 3/4 mission in CS. If I remember correctly, Lambda´s number 11 in Extend is like her number 5 in CS.

For people who´re unfamiliar with fighting games, I´d recommend the following characters:

Ragna - easy and short combos with easy Dash Cancels/Dragon Punches.

Jin - same as Ragna. Only problem here could be the jump cancels.

Iron Tager - short combos where only Gadget Finger can become tricky. Remember to hold down the Drive button at the end of a combo in order to perform Gadget Finger!

Lambda - she has a lot of inputs and the timing is really easy. Remember to let her Drive swords hit the opponent twice before you do the next one (6DD 2 hits then 2DD 2 hits and so on)! Same goes for her jump cancels (jDD and then jump cancel while the second sword hits).

Hazama - short combos and even the Distortion Drive follow up is simple. Just tap backdash until you hear him dashing and then use his 623D.

Tsubaki - many inputs but once you get her combo down you´ll notice that it´s always the same pattern. Her 6C jump cancel also got a lot easier.

Mu - short and simple. Just try to get used to her Stein´s Gunner placement during combos. Don´t mash and let her place her stone, then go on with the combo. You´ll have to input 63214C afterwards most of the time.

People will argue that some characters may be harder/easier than the ones I listed but that´s up to everyone´s own view. The above listed are easy an 5-8 missions compared to most other characters. Of course it´s up to the players if they´re used to the character´s mechanics. Let me give you an example. I rushed through Lambda´s 15 missions within around 20 minutes but Noel/Litchi and Taokaka took me quite a while to complete their number 8/9. You get the point.

Before you attempt a mission, press LT (default setting) to change the move´s names to notations. It really helps in the long run.

Using LB (default setting) to watch the sample play also helps a lot and it´s no shame to check it again and again if you´re unsure.

Practice the combo in segments if you´re having trouble remembering all the inputs.

Take your time and DON`T MASH! If you´re having trouble with a specific combo, skip it and try again later. Patience is the key.
