Rainbow Boosting Method:
The Rainbow is a tier 5 mutator that gives around 100,000 points per use to everyone in the match. The mutator is locked until you cap out a tier 3 so it requires someone that already has the achievement to help. When used, a pot of gold will spawn and jump around the map giving anyone that comes near it 1000 pts per second for as long as the mutator is active.
For the best results you need 8 people to hold a lobby and everyone to choose the CTF map Vigor. The person with the most pips in the rainbow should go around collecting all the mutators on the map while everyone else stands in the designated area where the pot of gold will spawn. As long as no one caps a flag the match will go into overtime and will last as long as you need it to. It takes 1.2 million points or about 12 rainbows to unlock this achievement. Although this can be done in about 20 min because of the many issues with this game its best to set aside about 2 hours for the session.
Problems:
Once the rainbow starts the pot of gold will jump around the map. When you get near it your points will start and will continue to roll in even if you move around or die. However if at any time you come within a certain distance of the pot of gold in a different spawn area it will stop your points.
Some of the matches may not save your points. Any host migration will reset your point total but besides from that its completely random. People disconnecting during the match has no effect on wether the points count and there is no way to tell from the post game stats or your record. The only way to tell is from the dynamic mutator section of the main menu. We have also had better luck if everyone waits until after the post game countdown before they leave the lobby. Because of this I found it better to not try and get the entire 1.2 mil in one match and to have people go out and check about half way through the session.
The game appears to set a % on rainbows at the start of the match. Some matches you will get rainbows every other mutator and some nothing for 20 minutes. If your not getting any rainows simply end the match, vote for vigor and try again.
The dynamic mutator system is also broken. The game will tell you it takes almost 10x the amount of points to unlock the next pip as it actually costs and you will need to have those points to unlock it. (as explained by drogturist above) Make sure you have over 1.2 million points before you put any pips into your tier 3 to avoid any problems.
It can be very difficult to find anyone with enough pips in the rainbow (about 5) for this to actually be effective. So as long as I am able I will help anyone in good standing on this site. My rainbow, whale and copy cat are all 10/10 so if you can get 8 people together feel free to message me on TA and we'll set up a time.
