The game doesn't explain this one correctly.

The time to press down on the left stick is at the bottom of the jump. NOT when your feet touch the trampoline but when your weight dips the trampoline surface to its lowest point.

There's actually a reasonable margin of error in the timing window and once you know when to press down, this isn't as hard as it seems.

The first five jumps are the ones where you are gaining height NOT the ones where you are making the button presses.
