*** (Disclaimer: One person has indicated to me that this method isn't working for them, due to being unable to attack anybody in that area of the game. I'm interested in finding out if this is an isolated problem, or something widespread, so for the time being, assume that there's a chance this might not work for you.) ***

First, when you find fight dummies, attack them. At some point (not sure how many hits or the exact criteria), you'll get an "experienced" perk that lets you gain 10% more experience -- a big help. The earlier you do this, the better, but it's not essential.

Next, do as much as you can throughout the game to boost your experience from fighting, quests, whatever. From what I've seen, you need to reach Level 34 before triggering the summit in the last chapter, in order to reach Level 35 in the endgame, since you get somewhere around 1000 experience for finishing A Summit of Mages and then fighting the dragon.

Here's the important part.

If you reach this point in Chapter 3 but you still need experience, there's a fairly good way to grind for it. As long as you haven't triggered the summit (a point of no return) in A Summit of Mages, and you've done everything else you're able to get more experience quickly, you should still be able to get this by grinding.

Go east of Loc Muinne, across the bridge, to the Camp of the Order of the Flaming Rose. They're the guys dressed in red. Just go on a killing spree. If you're already well equipped by that point, it should be pretty easy even on Dark difficulty. Only the guard you're attacking will fight back, and after a few seconds, dead guards re-spawn (with a different random name), so you can just go around killing them for easy experience. It's not much experience, but it does add up and won't take too long. From what I'm seeing, it may take about an hour to gain a full level that way, which is why it's best to do this just before the end.

Sometimes they don't even fight back. I blast them with IGNI first, and that seems to help.

Level up until you're level 34 or a little higher, so that you can safely obtain level 35 from the endgame quests (summit and dragon). You could just keep grinding all the way to level 35, but that'll take longer.

If you already beat the game and didn't get the Gura achievement, just load your most recent save prior to starting the Summit of Mages endgame section, and follow the same instructions.
