Further to Sashamorning's post, except on level 5, the only other time I have seen a recovery card was after you lose a ship, and the recovery card can then be dropped by the aliens. I got this on the last level when battling the mothership - if you position your sub/cruiser on the far left, they will often get swamped and sink. As you keep getting waves of enemies dropped off, just keep killing them, and they often the drop recovery cards. Rinse and repeat - this works well if you are also going for the 200 artillery strikes acheivement, as you can sacrifice your sub/cruiser to get the recovery cards, and leave the Missori in a support position for artillery strikes at the same time. |

As PuritanSoul stated, the trick is to let your ship(s) sink BEFORE you start killing enemies. Enemies drop a lot more recovery cards if your ships are destroyed.
A very easy and fast way to do this is on Mission 3, Overrun. The right side of the grid is covered by an Alien turret. The turret can sink a single ship in about 30 seconds. Move your boats in range, let them sink, THEN start killing enemies. Doing this I had 2 recovery cards by the time I cleared the first bunker (thats about 6 dead aliens). Each time you recover a ship, immediately move it into the kill zone and wait for it to sink before killing more AI.
Earned this one before the mission ended. Not sure if difficulty matters, but I was on Admiral. |
