This is a quest you receive in the capital pretty much opposite the pawn hall is a black smith who's son is dead you are required to collect 3 shards to make a wake stone. You can also use it on yourself later in the post game you will get a lot of shards especially if you kill the ur dragon he drops 20

Almighty Allah
has pointed out that apparently there is a full wake stone inside the crypt inside the pawn guild in gran soren you get a quest to investigate it from the pawn standing in the hall you will have to go down a huge spiral corridor to investigate a weird plate at the bottom near this before touching it is a full wake stone.
