Reaching level 10 doesn't take very long through normal play, but thanks to the way the XP system works, there is a method to shorten it if you don't like it or can't find people to play with online.
The way the game grants you XP is 500 for a win (450 for second, 400 for third, and so on), and then you get a certain amount of XP for the amount of tricks you do. The points they gain you during the race, like for example a backflip is worth more than a slide, do not matter for your XP!
This means that you can employ the following method: - Load up an Arena track (red flag icon) with a friend in a private match. - Grab every flag but the last one, as the last one is always the exit. - Then you have 10 minutes where you can both just ride in a big circle around the map doing wheelies. Since it's the amount of tricks, and not the actual worth of them, that counts toward your XP, doing constant wheelies gains you a lot more XP than doing advanced jump tricks does. - If you can pull it off, you can add a bit to your amount of tricks by constantly boosting. That'll get you the "Thunderbolt" trick every 3-4 wheelies, which adds up to quite a few tricks over 10 minutes. - You have to go to the exit before the timer runs out, otherwise you don't get to keep any of the XP you just earned.
On a technical note, this game has the pickiest netcode I've ever seen. Multiple people on my friends list had trouble getting into matches, and I had to unplug my Xbox from my router and plug it directly into the modem in order to join any games at all. It wouldn't let me join any, or even host my own, when I was plugged into the router. If you get constant error messages like we did, try that. (And, yes, I have a good router and it is properly set up.) |
