To perform a downward thrust, jump, hold down on the D-Pad and press the A button. Now, you must perform three consecutive downward thrusts on an enemy. I got this early in the game. While in the forest, on your way to the Mute Tower, you'll come across fire slimes. The second group of them is bunched tightly together. Do the downward thrust here and hit them three times without touching the ground and the achievement will unlock.
