to Score the Surfer award you must first unlock it by running the ball off of "the board" ramp 5 times. The "the board" ramp is the shiny silver surf board that is on the right side of the table. The ball usually falls right to it when you start the game. If you hit the ball on the far right ramp that reaches the bumpers you can get to "the board" ramp again.

Once you do this 5 times Silver Surfer will then surf to the far left orbit. Once you hit the left orbit or the orbit that's directly underneath "the board" ramp. the achievement will unlock

EDIT: Weird that I've unlock this achievement as well as the Hulk table achievement. They appear unlocked in game but they do not appear unlocked on xbox.com. I did unlock these shortly after the games were available for download on XBOX live. I did notice that the leader boards for avengers chronicles were not visible at this time of day. I don't know if that impacts why it's not showing as unlocked on xbox.com

EDIT: thanks to Kinkii Mono I've found out all I had to do was recover my gamertag and redo the achievement.
