How to unlock the Hard Court Heavy achievement

    Introduction

This game isidentical to the Reaction Rally minigame in Kinect Sports: Season Two. The gameplay is simple. You have two rackets; a red racket in your right hand, and a yellow racket in your left hand. You must hit red balls with the red racket, and yellow balls with the yellow racket. The game starts with one ball, but if you can keep balls in play without missing them, you can be playing with a maximum of four balls.

As with all Kinect Sports Gems, gaining levels is not based on gaining experience or burning calories. To gain levels, you must complete challenges.

For this achievement, you will need to obtain 5 stars by completing challenges. Most of the challenges will come naturally, but some do require a change in gameplay.

    Game Tips

Stance/Technique - In general, you should have your arms out to your sides at 45 degree angles. You don't really need to move your arms to hit the balls, unless you are aiming for Slow or Fast shots (see below). If both of your rackets need to be on one side of your body, turn your whole body in that direction with your arms to the side. If you need to cross your arms, try to maintain the 45 degree angle, with your arms crossed, obviously.

Scoring - Scoring is based on returning balls. If there is one ball in play, each is worth 1 point, if there is 2 balls in play, each is worth 2 points, and so on. You begin with one ball. If you return it four times, an extra ball will come in to play (x2 multi-ball). Return both of these five times, and another ball will come in to play (x3 multi-ball). Return these five times for the fourth and final ball (x4 multi-ball).

Stay Focused - Do not watch for individual balls, as that will make things very difficult later on. Watch for colours, moving your arms to correspond to the where the colours are going. The colours will not make you change arm positions immediately, only when there is a gap between shots. This is very useful knowledge when the balls are travelling at a fast pace, as you can keep your arms in the same position for several balls, with the knowledge that you won't need to change your arm positions until there is a gap.

Slow/Fast Shots - Slow balls are played by swinging your arm downwards, whilst fast balls are played by swinging your arm upwards. Whilst there are specific challenges based on Slow and Fast shots, it can also be useful to use them (mostly the Slow Shot) for others. For example, if you want to lengthen a game, using slow balls will allow you to stay focused and slow down the addition of multi-balls.

    Challenges

I won't include detailed information on challenges here. See the Tennis Titan solution for detailed tips on the more difficult challenges. Other than that, should you need tips for any other specific challenges, please ask for them in the comments section. Alternatively, I have created a walkthrough on TrueAchievements, which has tips for all challenges in the game:

    Note:

If you enter Settings, there is an option to 'Clear Missions'. DO NOT USE THIS OPTION! It will clear your challenges and ALL of your progress, so you will have to start all over, from Level 0.
