This achievement was glitched on launch, but it was patched on June 27th, 2013.

There are ten challenges to complete in the game, and you have to beat the storyline on any difficulty to unlock the challenge mode. Once you have beat the game, you'll see the "Challenges" option on the main menu. Roughly half of them are easy, but the other half are definitely going to give you a challenge.

Also, thanks to user Hairy Cabbage in the comments for this tidbit. If you played the story on easy or hard, the challenges will display the hard version of the note charts. You can't use the easy charts in the challenges, but you can use the normal version. To do this, go to chapter 16 in Single Battle mode, hit a few notes, and then exit back to the main menu. Now, the note charts in challenge mode will use normal difficulty instead of hard.

These are the requirements for the S ranks:

Challenge #1 - 55 hit combo
Challenge #2 - 75 hit combo
Challenge #3 - 85 hit combo
These are pretty simple, you just have to hit the notes X amount of times in a row without breaking your combo. You might screw up a time or two, but overall, you should have no problems with these.

Challenge #4 - 50 perfect hits
Challenge #5 - 90 perfect hits
Challenge #6 - 75 perfect hits
This is where it gets tricky. In order to get a perfect hit, you have to push the required button exactly when the marker or halo goes over the note. The timing window on this is incredibly narrow, and it almost feels like luck when you hit a perfect. There's plenty of room for error here though, and while #6 will definitely infuriate you, they're doable.

Challenge #7 - 20 perfect hits combo
Challenge #8 - 20 perfect hits combo
Remember what I said up above about how perfect hits are incredibly hard to consistently hit and how it almost feels like luck when you do hit them? Alright, now you have to hit 20 of them in a row. This is INCREDIBLY difficult, even coming from someone who normally plays rhythm games on expert. Looking at my playtime on Raptr, it took me roughly 10 hours to finish these two challenges, and it was honestly blind luck when I did get them done.

Challenge #9 - 85% hit rate
Challenge #10 - 95% hit rate
This is based on hitting a percentage of the notes found in the song. If you've come this far, these are actually fairly easy (much easier than the previous five challenges). Just make sure you hit most of the notes and you'll be fine.

This guide only focusses on the 2 hardest challenges, number 7 and 8. In these challenges you will need to score 20 or more perfect hits in a row. There is no certain way to achieve this, it is very hard though as the timing window for perfect is quite narrow and sometimes even vague to me.

I do have a few tips to make it slightly easier:

- Make sure that your game is calibrated! Go to the options menu and select to calibrate. Now just follow the instructions on screen to calibrate your game.

- Turn the SFX volume all the way down. Again, from the options menu. Make sure to save settings. Now all the talking and fighting noises will be turned off. This will allow you to purely focus on the timing of the music.

- If you are still having trouble with hitting notes in perfect timing, even when you know you are doing it right and after calibration, you might want to consider using either a Turtle Beach or Astro's headset. These will remove audio lag, at least that is what always was the case for me in every rhythm game. Alternatively, you could use a non HD tv, which will not lag either.

- Note that these challenges are luck based as well, due to the timing being very unforgiving at times. If you get frustrated, take a break as you won't get this done if you are on your way to a nervous breakdown..

- I have been seeing that the notes that require a lot of tapping always end on a perfect. This could only be the case for me though. If you are experiencing the same thing, use this to your advantage! Plan out streaks during sections that contain these notes as every single note counts!

For this challenge, I would recommend starting your streak at the beginning of the song, as that was the best option for me. Note that every player can have a diffirent opinion about this so I would just recommend that you play the whole song verious time and minimise the amount of restarts, those will just make you more angry. This might arguably be the easiest of the two.

In this challenge, I would recommend to focus your streak around the part where you get the dirt in your face. I able to get +15 streak about 3-4 times before I got it.

I'm still working on the other challenges atm so I don't have the achievement yet. I hope that this guide helps you though! Good luck!

EDIT: I finally got the achievement! After hours of playing I finally got it, the whole thing took about 5 hours. One last tip: Make sure to check if your are online right before the last challenge is done if you want the timestamp! I didn't realise that my internet disconnected while I was having dinner so I didn't get mine..
