As of April, 2010 it is very difficult, if not impossible, to find a ranked match. You will usually get a "match no longer exists" message when it attempts to join.
Midway Games (publisher of UMK3) has gone bankrupt and their assets were sold to Warner. Normally, games hosted by Microsoft (pretty much any non-EA game) will continue to work on Live forever, though in this case that seems to not be the case. Maybe one of the Live updates broke it and there's nobody at Midway to fix it.
Hopefully, whoever has Midway's assets will restart the studio and get someone to fix the game. |

Pretty straight forward, if you keep playing ranked matches you should eventually get this. If people quit before the game ends it counts as a win, so even if you lose don't quit out because you never know if the other person may just randomly disconnect.
Find a character you are good with and hope for the best. You will get schooled in this game but there is also some people who are awful as well.
If you have a buddy, you can both join ranked matches at the same time and hope you get paired, try early mornings if you want to go that route as you can wait a little bit for someone to be matched up. |
