The basics

To obtain this achievement you need to play a Garden Ops match on any map on normal difficulty from wave 1 till the end of wave 10 and then at least one plant needs to escape. If you join midway through an on-going match you will not gain the achievement, it must be from start till finish. At least one of the four possible players needs to escape after wave 10 when Crazy Dave comes to pick you up, it doesn't even have to be you. If you fail a wave you or another player can use a Team Retry sticker (a common find in any sticker pack) up to 3 times in a game, this will not affect the achievement in any way. Likewise using a Self Revive sticker (also common in any sticker pack) won't affect the achievement either. I should also note that ignoring the objective waves is fine and won't impede your progress but may make the garden harder to protect.

The players

Since it is normal difficulty you can be fairly relaxed about your approach. To begin with, while it is ideal to do this with friends and people you trust, you don't necessarily need 4 players who know each other; I've done this several times with people I met in random matchmaking. But make sure if you do this then all the players need to be friendly and co-operative. You must all support each other and protect your garden. What you do want is players who revive each other, spread out evenly, stay in an area where they are effective and ideally communicate with each other. What you don't want is players who are idle, run off , steal kills, taunt you, ignore the objective and focus on their character missions. Also it is very important that players use a wide variety of plants. There is nothing worse than a team of 4 Chompers. Sunflowers aren't a necessity and you probably don't need more than 1 Cactus. Also if possible make sure you've played your character well before bringing them into Garden Ops so you know their strengths and weaknesses, you have all their special abilities unlocked and you maybe have a more desirable alternative to play as such as the Plasma Pea or the Armour Chomper.

The prep

On normal difficulty any map can be used, as long as the garden selected has very few flanking positions. Ideal locations are:
The roof in the middle of Garden Center
The town to the far side of Jewel Junction
The bridge in the middle of Crash Course
Now you get a few seconds before each wave and use this time well. Return to a good defendable location nearby the garden if you haven't already done so. Place plant pots frequently, go into the game with plenty to choose from (buy them from consumable packs if you haven't already) then place them where you think is best. I won't state a guide because everyone has their own preference and there are many combinations which are all effective. Remember to replant the ones that might have been destroyed during that wave. After a few waves you start to see patterns in the zombie spawn points which you can use to predict where they will attack from each wave, use this to your advantage by using your Pea Gatling or Sunbeam ability and aiming down the path you know they will take. Do not head to their spawn points before the round starts! It may seem tempting now you know where they're coming from but 90% of the time if you are too close to their spawn point they will spawn somewhere else, possibly closer to your garden, and you will be too far away to stop them and the rest of the time they will just spawn and surround you immediately.

If you're a Cactus place your Tallnuts in a way that blocks busy routes that the zombies often take but try not to block potted plants. Also place some of your mines in these routes but always save 2 or 3 in the garden in case it is breached. Chompers can place their Spikeweed like mines but remember to check them occasionally because Spikeweeds will only kill Browncoat zombies, others are only weakened but present a good opportunity to be swallowed. Players should find an area they find comfortable in and settle down, but be prepared to move in case of complications. Don't get too close to your garden, get far enough away that if a zombie passes you then you have plenty of time to deal with it and any friends before they even look at your garden. Players should be reasonably spaced out covering all entrances to your garden, it is better to have 1 plant at each entrance than 2 plants covering a major entrance leaving side routes vulnerable. It is acceptable if a Sunflower or Cactus doesn't take front line duties as this isn't what their role is based on. Avoid putting yourself in a corner and try to avoid being on a roof as I will explain in the next section.

The play

Be smart about it and just play it like it should be played, defensively. If a few zombies get by you don't worry if you have a few plant pots backing you up, they should clear out any threats you can't. If there are stragglers going in a different route don't kill them until the wave is nearly cleared otherwise more zombies might head down the route you just exposed. Remember that you can respawn either by player, a Self Revive sticker or at the beginning of the next round but your garden can only respawn up to 3 times with a Team Retry sticker. That means you are more expendable than it is and this is why I said don't go on roofs; it is better to use yourself as a distraction on the ground and draw some of the zombie attention than let them head straight for your garden. Remember to use your powers and use them wisely: a large concentration of zombies requires an area of effect attack like a Chilean Bean or Drone Corn Strike, a fast zombie like the Engineer on his Jackhammer needs to be slowed down by Goop. Also if you're a Chomper help the team by swallowing armoured zombies (Newspaper, Screen Door, Coffin and Outhouse) as this will instantly remove their protection which would otherwise take more effort to get rid of.

The hardest part of the game will be the boss fights; frequently I will endure every wave without taking any garden damage until a boss wave when it loses half health. On waves 5 and 10 a slot machine style event will occur which will give you 3 random occurrences ranging from money to super powerful zombies. If all 3 are the same then they get boosted and more zombies appear. Thankfully the preference of the boss zombies is the players so leave any boss zombies till last because when they reach the garden they will ignore it if a player is in sight. They are mostly slow so won't get to your garden till near the end of the wave by which time you should have vanquished most other zombies allowing you to focus your firepower on the bosses. The one exception to this is the Tombstone which will keep producing zombies till destroyed so take care of it as quickly as possible, ideally as a Peashooter using Hyper to run up to and away from it before too many zombies spawn. Always remember to take on bosses as a team because they will tear you apart one at a time and if the entire team is down it counts as wave failed.

The end

Once you've successfully gone through waves 1-11 in one playthrough then it should pop for you. The difficulty achievements are stackable so completing it on hard will also unlock this and on crazy will unlock all 3 achievements.

This is just an ideal way to play and it gives you the starters to making your own defence. Why not take it a step further and play with 3 close friends on a harder setting.

Like I've mentioned, this is only normal difficulty and as long as you go in with a few hours background knowledge of the game you should get this Achievement fine.
