There is a much faster way to earn this achievement since a previous update has added the new Chase format. Basically the final 10 races are split up into 3 rounds of 3 races each, with the 10th race at Homestead being the championship race. After each set of races, the field of 16 Chase drivers is cut down to 12, then to 8, and finally 4 drivers who compete in the last race for the Sprint Cup. The most important aspect, and the one we will be taking advantage of, is that winning any of the 3 races in a round automatically locks you in for the next.

What does this mean for us? It means you only have to race (and win) 4 of the 10 races in the Chase, as each win locks you into the next round.

So let's get started! In the main menu go to Single Player, choose season and then choose the Chase for the Sprint Cup. Select whatever driver you'd like, then load up the first race in Chicago.

*NOTE: You don't necessarily have to race on the same tracks I did. If you wanted to start at Loudon or Dover instead of Chicago you can. Just don't sim past these 3 initial tracks, as you'll most likely be eliminated from the Chase. This goes for the other races as well.*

Upon loading the race, select the following difficulty options:
Difficulty 0%
Qualifying 5/3/3 (5/3 on short tracks)
Race Length 2%
Tire Wear 1x
Fuel 1x
Flags Off
Damage Off (or Visual. Doesn't matter)

You now have two ways to go about this, both of which I have used. You can either qualify on the pole or start dead (or almost) last.

Worst To First: If you want it done as fast as possible, skip to the race. You'll start 43rd (or sometimes the game will be generous and start you in 40th!), but since the difficulty is set to 0%, you'll blow by everybody and end up in first by the 3rd lap. Because we turned off flags, you can make passes on the apron and not be penalized, resulting in huge chunks of passed cars.

Skip to Qualifying and record a time. After your first lap, pause and select Retire from the menu. You'll automatically move on to the next round. Do the same for the next 2 rounds and you should qualify 1st. Skip to the race itself and win the 5 lap race. No one will catch you on 0%.

After trying both methods I can tell you that skipping the race and passing everybody is MUCH quicker than qualifying before each race.

With your win in hand we can skip the next couple races. Select Kansas (Charlotte and Talladega work too) from the schedule and the game will sim the previous races (if you want to check that it worked, go to the standings in the menu and you will be one of the top 12 drivers with 3000 points).

Repeat the same steps as the Chicago race for Kansas. Either skip to the race or qualify in 1st, then win. After, skip to either Martinsville or Texas, and repeat the process again. If you're using the worst to first method, you'll have better luck passing cars at Texas than Martinsville, where there is almost no room to pass on turns. The qualifying method works on either track.

Finally, you can skip to the last race at Homestead. Win there, watch the cutscenes in Victory Lane and your driver hoisting the championship, and the achievement is yours.

Just in case you're not sure what the standings should look like after each race, I'll list them here.
After winning Chicago and skipping to Kansas: in the top 12 with 3000 points.
After winning Kansas and skipping to Martinsville: in the top 8 with 4000 points.
After winning Martinsville (or Texas) and skipping to Homestead: in the final 4 with 5000 points.
