How to unlock the Gunsmith achievement

  One of the easiest ways to get this achievement is to unlock the all around silencer and the holographic sight out of the Vendor.
  
  Once you have both of them unlocked, choose rifleman and enter a match or your hideout.
  As soon as you load in, press UP on the directional pad to bring up an attachments menu.
  
  Press X and B to attach the silencer and the holographic sight, and it should pop the achievement. Happy Hunting!

  Indeed. Can also confirm that everyone saying the starting gun works is wrong. They no longer do. Will try purchasing a gun tomorrow to confirm that part.

  I tried to get it with the starting weapon -> it didn't worked.
  But as soon as I bought a gun and put on the attachements -> achievement pop :D
  That's what I say about it :)

  I was going to write this in the comments on the other solution but realized its much easier for everyone to see in a new solution.
  
  September 4th, I unlocked this achievement by unlocking the muzzle and sight attachment, then BUY a shotgun for the medic class. It costs $3500 for the cheapest one. It cost the same for the rifleman gun but it requires 3 attachments. Go into your hide out and press up on the directional pad. Then equip the 2 attachments with and , and then press up again on the d-pad to bring the gun back down and it should unlock.
  
  I'm not sure about any updates that may have caused this as I just started but I can confirm you need to BUY A GUN for it to unlock. I tried at least 50 times with the first weapon for rifleman and medic but it did not unlock the achievement. Hope this helps

  Up vote for me I've been saving this achievement for a back up incase I almost lost my streak lol.. tried for 5mins In the hideout and jumping into games.. they updated it so u do have to buy a gun I can confirm this solution.. just popped mine thanks for the tip..also I bought the kite pump, shared silencer and reflex sight required can be done in hideout.. good luck!
