Just got this today using the British AT-2 and it really does come down to luck.

1) Luck that you're paired with similar Tiered enemies. If I got matched with a Tier VI or VII, since the AT-2 is Tier V, I knew my chances were slim.

2) Luck to take the appropriate amount of ricochets w/o taking damage.

3) Luck in that you pray the match ends before you take any damage. The AT-2, even upgraded does poor damage and turns any enemy encounter into a slug fest.

I almost had it several times with the Russian Tier V KV-1, however, someone always found an angle on me.

Some hints:

1) The recommended tanks for this are the American T-95 and T110E3. However, most of us haven't played enough to unlock those tanks, nor would you want to grind that much.

The suitable alternate choices are the two I previously mentioned, the AT-2, in the British tree, and the KV-1, in the Russian.

Both have strengths and drawbacks.

The KV-1 can dish out more damage and can maneuver better. When upgraded, it has a higher top speed than the AT-2.

Although with this tank you must master angling towards your targets, effectively increasing your armor.

For a list of weak points and how to angle your tank effectively look here:

The AT-2 is far better armored but is best used staring death in the face. Forget angling and square yourself up with your attackers. The armor for the AT-2 is weak on the sides and back so don't let anyone flank you. Try to use map elements, destroyed teammates, live teammates, or whatever, to block side shots should someone have an angle on you.

While not easily hit, there are several targets on the front that enemies might hit for damage. Those weak spots can be found here:

Take the time to memorize where these weak points are located. Spots such as the commander's hatch can be protected by corners, leaving your less weak right-side front available to take the pounding.

2) Platooning will more than likely help you, even in small groups, your allies can help protect your sides while going for the achievement.

3) I found that by positioning yourself in open areas, making sure you're not too far in to have been flanked already, and shooting into the empty spaces where tanks usually are, causes them to attempt to zero in on you, regardless of whether or not you or they are detected. You can still track the shell arcs when they are fired. Most shells ricochet and many enemies continue firing as they are unaware they may be wasting their ammo on an AT-2.

4) Don't sit and wait. If your team is good enough to win then waiting for enemies to find you won't result in a great chance of getting the 1000 potential damage required. And if the enemies do find you during the waiting game, chances are there will be more of them than you can handle and damage, coupled with profanities, will ensue. The only way around this is if they take your team's base while you're off hiding somewhere after meeting the achievement requirements.

5) If not angled properly there are several tanks which can damage your KV-1 so I won't go through listing them, however, for the AT-2 you only really need to worry about 5 things that will punch through your frontal armor. Tier IV or better Artillery, as they bypass your front and drop from above, premium ACPR or HEAT rounds, Tier VI Heavies and Destroyers, anything Tier VII has the potential to ruin your day, and Wolverines. I made the mistake of going against one too often to count, but after I almost finished a match then took 6 damage (444/450) I learned my lesson.

6) Count the shells! And don't get greedy. Many times I thought I needed to get shot more only to take that extra shot and have it damage me and then end the match with a Steel Wall medal. Which in turn caused me to swear as I would have popped the achievement if not for my desire to "make certain."

I will also confirm, like many other solutions reference, that damage to anything does not count against the achievement, even if you repair, as long as your hp is full when the match ends. I used a repair kit on a track AND one on my sight during the match I received the achievement.

Good luck. This really is a difficult achievement to get. Hopefully these tips will help you meet your streak of luck sooner than I did.
