How to unlock the Completionist achievement

The Completionist Achievement is rewarded for completing all the 2013-14 NHL Moments Live. It sounds easy but it can be challenging. First off there are 3 types of challenges:

    Be a Pro challenge

You take on the role of a NHL player and have to a certain amount of goals. These aren't too difficult on Rookie, you can easily maneuver between the Dmen easily. The most you have to score that I am aware of is 2 goals with Hertl and Crosby.

    Regular Game Challenge

These are somewhat challenging as there are a couple that involve comebacks. As the Leafs you need to comeback from a 4-1 deficit VS Winnipeg and Comeback as the Oilers from a 5-1 deficit to beat Calgary. On Rookie this can still be challenging as the goalie still plays amazing and yours sucks, basically any shot on your net can go in but the other goalie will stone your one timer attempts 80% of the time. I found it easiest to skate around and try to open up the middle so you can deke out the goalie. One timers should still be attempted as well. I found as Edmonton the guys were speedy enough to just skate by the D and get a breakaway. Deke out the goalie for an easy goal. I should also point out that OT Thriller is the easiest moment on Superstar which you will need for the "A Moment of Greatness" Achievement. Game Starts in OT and you just need one goal, if you lose you just restart at OT with 1 goal needed to win the game

    Goalie challenge

These ones are pure luck. You play as the goalie and you have to shutout the opposing team with whatever time is left. Like I said it is pure luck. As Goalie you have little maneuverability. You move incredibly slowly and for the most part you are just moving the goalie in the direction of the puck and hope it auto saves. If the AI do a one timer you are screwed because you do not have the movement speed to get over and the AI on your team could not defend against a Peewee team. I did this on Rookie, however some people have claimed Superstar was the easiest (UNCONFIRMED).

thenixhex311 has pointed out that for the Goalie challenges, switching your Forecheck settings to Neutral Zone Trap it can limit the CPU attack time. To accomplish this press left or right on the Dpad during the game to bring up the little menu and press Y until the bottom choice says Neutral Zone Trap 1-4 and press left or right until it says neutral zone trap as well.

That isn't the issue, it is the cross ice tap ins or cross ice one timers, you just don't have the movement speed to get over and there is usually a guaranteed 2 of those per game.

thenixhex311I usually always cheat on the cross ice ones because you KNOW thats what the computer is going to do. Stupid AI ALWAYS lets me down in the final minute. I was on the Edmonton/Sharks one and was actually playing great (i HAD to make saves that game) and freaking D just lets Thornton blow right by them and of course he roofs one with :15 seconds left. 4th time I've been under a minute on this stupid challenge and this happens. ARGH

ChizzyThe goalie ones wouldn't be so tad if the time went down like it's supposed to in nhl games.

Definitely rides a lot on luck, but I found it easiest on superstar for sure. Use the 1-4 neutral zone trap and ALWAYS cheat on the cross-crease passes. On superstar the opponents look for and force that pass 99% of the time, so you can afford to give up a bit of the short side. Keep your movements small and simple, and flick your right stick in the direction of the puck if you ever get caught out of position and you still may get a piece of it. Just always keep your eyes on the open players in the high slot and be ready to slide over and square up to them. Also, you move quicker while in the butterfly, so keep that in mine when getting across quickly!

MTLceltic7hey for the goalie ones... just wanted to add that you can adjust sliders to make cpu passing and shots as bad as possible. it doesnt make any of them automatic, but certainly a lot easier to react to shots. plus a lot more miss the net entirely.

OSUBucksfan9You also can adjust sliders to make human goalie a little bit better. I finally got the two and now stuck on the Florida Panthers one. The shots are easier and less likely to go from a fake shot to a pass on easy, however on superstar they force more passes so less shots. I got them on easy though because on a 1 v 1 which always seemed to happen the deking on superstar is just dirty.

Where did you go to adjust the sliders? I tried to go into the settings from the in game pause menu but it wouldn't let me change any of the sliders to better myself against the CPU :/

Rusty Nail zhGoalie challenges: I can confirm, that Superstar difficulty is easier! Important! - Change the sliders under Game Settings in the main menu! The sliders that are important for goalie challenges are Shots and Passing! This makes it much much easier! Still only got it on my 8th try, but it's still easier!
Also, you can change the sliders of the goalie for the other challenges. Don't know how much it has an impact, didn't try it yet.
You probably have to add this to the solution, mate. As it really helps to adjust the sliders while going for the different challenges!

KillersquirelzI'm not entirely sure why people are saying Superstar is easier. Maybe it is on some, I'm not sure yet. I do know on Scrivens, I tried it on normal superstar for several games and got stomped. I then lowered all the CPU settings and raised all the human settings, then played superstar again and got stomped again for a few hours. Then I switched it to normal just to see how it was, and got it first try. There was a noticeable difference between the two difficulties for me. They mostly did long shots which were easier to save, and they'd miss all the time, where as on superstar they'd barely ever miss. Maybe it's just very lucky, but it felt to me like there was a big difference, and rookie was easier.

KillersquirelzTried more and had the same success. Definitely give it a try on rookie if you're struggling on superstar.
