How to unlock the Rising Vanguard achievement

Despite how timid a "Strike" may seem, this can actually be a real tough one, especially for low levels with low level gear/weapons. You will need a good team to get through this effectively, so I suggest playing with trusted friends or creating a session. Many randoms will certainly quit out during the strike, which is why you will need a good team.

This guide will be updated as new information or tips come along.

I personally did the strike on Earth "Level 8 Strike, The Devil's Lair" mainly because it was the first one that was available. The guide will be based on this mission because it is probably the easiest in respect to any others. There are three main parts to this mission which are the most difficult and will require the most concentration and determination. Anything in between these parts is fairly simple.

If you die, you will respawn in 5 seconds. If you die in a respawn restricted area, you will respawn in 30 seconds (unless you are revived)

I highly recommend bringing a sniper rifle also.

First hard part: Waiting for Ghost to do stuff while you kill a shed load of enemies (as usual)

    - At this part, you have to deploy Ghost onto a console. He will then say something like "Its pretty complex, I'll need some time". Behind the console there is a raised sniping section with a bit of cover. This is where your team will camp for this section. You will need double jump to access it however. As long as you have good teamwork, don't run out and be a hero, or not spill your coffee over yourself, you will succeed this part. Another thing to point out is that some enemies can actually jump up to your camping spot, so you must always be vigilant to dispatch of these swiftly, because it can really mess up the status quo. Also be wary of invisible enemies. Take them out together to ensure no one dies. I also advise to leave the Captains till last because they are easier to kill as a group.

    Second hard part: The Tank

    - A little while later, you will come across a large area. A tank will spawn at the end of the area. This is the hardest part of the mission in my opinion, because the tank takes forever to die. There is a great camping spot in the far right corner of the area. The far right corner if facing the tank, that is. I suggest that two people camp in that area, and another player camps under a large debris in the centre of the entire area. This is because the tank has an extremely powerful one-hit kill cannon, and if the entire team is in one spot, you will all die. You will need to target the tank's legs, as these are the weak spots. Every now and then, the tank will malfunction for a moment and open up. At this point, everyone needs to unload their weapons on the exposed part that opens up. There's not really that much else to say, other than keep chipping away at the tank's health. Use your grenades, throwing knives and supercharge as much as possible, because they do a lot of damage against the tank. Also use your sniper rifle as much as possible because it also does a lot of damage. Watch out for infantry too, because they can be a bit overwhelming if faced alone. Make sure you are not too far from each other.

    Third hard part: Final Boss!

    - You thought the tank was the final boss? Think again. However, the true final boss isn't as hard as the tank in my opinion. You will be faced against a floating sphere called "Sepiks Prime". His main attacks are lasers shots. They will take 3 or 4 shots to kill a player, so its not too bad, however he usually fires 3 or 4 shots in one quick burst, so remember to strafe and jump around. Make sure you are not very close to Sepiks, as this will result in death. Target the very centre of the sphere to ensure maximum damage is being done. Once again just keeping chipping away at his health and you will not fail. Me and my team didn't fail this part a single time, but we did fail all the other parts multiple times. Remember to use grenades, throwing knives, supercharge and sniper rifles for high damage output, and a faster kill.

This achievement is time consuming and could take anywhere between 1 hour to 4 hours of gameplay, depending on your skill and teamwork. Just don't give up and you will eventually see this one pop.

    Hope this guide helps.

YaziteI'm sorry to hear this, but I don't think I can offer any advice. Destiny does seem to have a few glitchy achievements unfortunately.

The strikes can be pretty challenging to complete, especially if you get into a less effective group. This guide shows you an effective strategy for completing the Level 8 strike in Old Russia.

Thanks to my friend squareonegames for making the video!
