Once you start it complete the tutorial, and you will gain
After you have done the tutorial get through all the stages eventually to Raw, gaining
throughout that period.
If on the way to Raw you get the opportunity to do any of the big four, choose that as you only get to choose 3 ppv's per year. If not either go for unlockables and do at least 1 ppv to get sp so you can max out your stats and you should be able to gain

Once you get to raw do dark matches as you don't need followers and that will help you gain
