This achievement can be extremely frustrating and time-consuming, especially for more casual gamers. There's just no two ways about it.

You unlock Z difficulty after beating all Saga chapters on Very Hard, including Bardok (Frieza Saga) and Broly (Cell Saga).

Beating everyone on Z difficulty is hard enough as is, but you also have to complete them all with Z ranks for this achievement. Getting Z rank requires you to get a certain amount of stars on each level by unlocking Drama Pieces and Target Actions (as they are called in later DBZ games) during the fights. Here's a checklist of objectives that count towards Z rank:

- FIRST ATTACK: simply be the first to attack the opponent. Only attacks that actually land will count for this: dodged/blocked attacks (even those where you actually take some chip damage) do NOT count.

- READY STANCE: use a ready stance (hit away from opponent + A just when opponent strikes) to get this. You can also hit forward to use a ready stance attack, but that would have to land to tick this requirement, which can be tricky at Z diff.

- PURSUIT ATTACK: you have to land a pursuit attack, which you do by hitting RT when the opponent flies away. I recommend doing this with a Ready Stance attack when the fight takes to the air, which it should sooner or later.

- VANISHING ATTACK: I had the most trouble getting this one. You have to hit away from opponent + LB and X or Y to appear behind the opponent and attack them. For some reason I rarely ever got this to come out and if I did they would just teleport behind me for more free damage so I ended up leaving it out of my Z rank checklist completely.

- DODGE: simply dodge the opponent's attacks with timed presses of the A button. You'll be doing this automatically at this difficulty, so no sweat.

- SUPER: my strategy is to usually spam Heavy Smashes and combo into super moves (back or forward + B), so that ticks two boxes every time. Follow up with a Pursuit (RT) in the air for extra damage and another move off the checklist!

- ULTIMATE: land an Ultimate attack (up + B with full ki bar) to get this.

- HEAVY SMASH: see SUPER to combine these. If not possible due to crappy nature of Super Moves (can't be combo'ed), do them seperately.

- WIN WITH ULTIMATE MOVE: this is confusing, as they don't mean an Ultimate Finish K.O. with this one. If you press LT when you send the opponent flying, you enter a button-press minigame. You have to try and fill up the bar by mashing buttons and you have to get to the third section to actually K.O. the opponent if his health is low enough. If you fail to do this, the opponent will not be K.O.'ed no matter if his/her health is down to zero. A turbo controller comes highly recommended at Z difficulty. Sometimes the AI will offer little to no resistance to human-speed button presses, other times it's best to disconnect the controller and switch to a turbo.

- DEFEAT IN 90 SECONDS: says it all. This won't happen very often, but if it does, it's a very welcome contributor to your Z rank.

The ones I usually went for are FIRST ATTACK, READY STANCE, DODGE, HEAVY SMASH, ULTIMATE ATTACK, SUPER ATTACK and WIN WITH ULTIMATE. Even missing 1 or 2 of these should be enough to net Z rank, depending on the Drama Pieces. You might need all of these and maybe the VANISHING ATTACK to get Z rank on some.

Now, the amount of stars you get will also depend on how many Drama Pieces you unlock during the fight, but those will usually come randomly. If you want to see which ones unlock for every fight to try and maximize your Drama Pieces, check this guide: http://www.ataricommunity.com/forums/showthread.php?t=646278

Also, beating the opponent quickly with lots of health left seems to somehow give you more stars.

As stated in other guides, the hardest fights by far (I added some on a personal note):
- Yamcha vs. Saibamen
- Goku vs. Vegeta
- Goku vs. Ginyu
- Goku vs. Frieza (first fight)
- Bardok vs. Vegeta
- Bardok vs. Goku
- Piccolo vs. Piccolo
- Goku vs. Cell
- Gohan vs. Cell
- All Broly chapters
