There is no easy way through this, nor a way to boost. It's going to take skill and dedication.
Some hints that got me through: 1. Use a wheel to drive. This was critical for me. No way I could have done these on a controller. 2. On oval tracks when I started out I would look at the rear bumper of the car in front, but when we'd get to the turn I'd push way up high. I realized it wasn't a problem with the car but with my driving style. I would instead aim my steering toward the front left tire of the car in front of me, and in my mind I would drive *through* the car in front of me to get to that point. This technique helped me conquer the oval races. Pro drivers say that where you point your eyes is where your car will go. For more about this concept check out the book Speed Secrets. 3. On road courses, you have to moderate your inputs, meaning don't mash the gas or the brake. Instead apply small amounts of each input; you have to be gentle with these beasts as a Nascar weighs 3400 lbs! 4. My other tip is to use the cars around you. By that I mean *gently* rub those cars if you are in a turn and need a guardrail. Some of these challenges are ridiculous: "start 20th and win at Infineon" stands out. Well you won't make that many passes unless you take some real chances and make strong moves. So dive into a turn and gently use an AI car as a guardrail. If you hit too hard, yes you will be DQed on the run, but trust me and try it because you can get away with more than you might think. This technique could work on some ovals too where you have to pass several cars in a hurry. |
