While in a Rally Race or a BAJA 250/500/1000 just hit the Y button and the helicopter pilot will tell you to stop, but just keep driving until you see a blue square with a H in the middle of it and then come to the blue square and stop, the helicopter should be there if its not just hang tight and wait for him to land. When you have finished the repair and the helicopter has flown away the achievement should pop up.
